LOL England, you invented the ing language and you can't even speak or spell it...
And tell me that beer in England is more expensive than in the US... just last night I had an Australian complain that the $5.50 beer was "a bit pricey" |
I couldn't afford to goto Oxford so please excuse my english grammar.
I wouldn't mind paying $10 a beer in NYC as the atmosphere is wicked. |

1. Give reasons why it is great. |
A. Top-notch college system.
B. Very good medical care if you have decent insurance.
C. A focal point for technological development and scientific breakthroughs.
D. A destination for highly skilled immigrants.
E. Amazing variety, both cultural -- beliefs, subcultures, and lifestyles -- and physical -- landscapes and climates.
F. Good political ideals enshrined in a constitution, even if politicians often fail to put them into practice.
| quote: | | 2. Give reasons why it sucks. |
A. One of the worst primary school systems among industrialized countries.
B. Lots of people uninsured or with crappy insurance, plus little "social safety net" and a really high rate of bad health habits that really weighs down the medical system.
C. Too much emphasis on wealth and having the latest stuff as a mark of social superiority.
D. A weird conception of leisure time and "vacation," which means that time off work can become as regimented and stultifying as any work day. It seems like people always have to be doing something, and they can't just relax and let go of goals and objectives for a while. Americans should know what I mean...
E. High violent crime rates compared with most European countries.
F. Slimy politicians and jingoistic patriotism with ethnocentric undertones, plus too much fanatical religiosity.

I'd like to try out a European country, possibly Sweden or Norway. One of those places that seems really clean and low-crime... |

Country : USA
1. Reasons why it is great.
It's about to elect Barack Obama as the new President.
2. Reasons why it sucks.
It let Hillary Clinton get so far. |
Hate to disagree with you, but I'm so sick of everyone thinking Obama is a godsend. It gives people (not you, necessarily) who know nothing about politics an excuse to regurgitate a bunch of hype they heard on the news to sound like they know what our country needs.
Country: USA

Texas.
2. Reasons why it sucks.
No one is informed, no one cares about politics, and no one gives a about their neighbors. Half the time I walk down the street and say hi to people they look down at their shoes. Crappy national conscience, crappy food that's horrible for you, ignorance, xenophobia, crap crap crap.
3. I would move to Norway, Iceland, Japan, Canada, or France in a mothering heartbeat, no joke. |

Though there are lots of immigrants that bring their good food with them to make up for it.

yeah but then we have to on it and chock it up with msg and saturated fat and nastiness. it's so hard to get authentic food in the US because everything is chains. you have to go to the hole-in-the-wall places to get really good indian, mediterranean, japanese, or kebab...and some of those places don't like random white girls coming in for lunch. i get some weird-ass looks sometimes when i go into places and it's like a local immigrant hangout. they're like "how the did she hear about this place," i can feel it! |

Kind of agree with this. It seems like this election cycle has been far more about image and "gut-disliking / gut-liking" of candidates than any substantive policy differences, which I have a feeling that few supporters of one or the other can articulate. |
