Actually, believe it or not, I just watched an episode of "The Practice" (a courtroom drama series) where a doctor was being being sued by a patent because he sewed maggots into the women's leg after a procedure where she was going to loose her leg.
According to the 'doctor' the maggots somehow instinctivly know only to eat the dead flesh. Something in their feces kills harmful bacteria and their squirming motion helps massage the muscle area that brings blood to help keep the muscle from atrophying.
Sounds real gross but appearantly it worked in saving the women's leg.
She was sueing because of the psychological damage she ensured knowing she had maggots in her leg. She didn't know about that part of the procedure and was pretty....pissed and messed up lol. :nervous:
(oh yea...she won her case btw...the doctor should have told her even though he was doing what he thought was best to save her leg...) |

| How much did the doctor have to pay out? doctor did the right thing imo, but either should have asked or kept his mouth shut :D |
