I'm also surprised that they didn't manage to hit anything/anyone else since NOBODY, not even traffic control knew they were rolling until it was way too late. |

a metric load
depends whether its the run of the mill A340-600 or the HGW.
normal is 4x 56,000lb, HGW is 4x 60,000lb
There was also some poor research in that story, its not the largest airliner, but the longest.
It wasn't exactly covered up though, Airbus even put out a press release
