i mean
its the date they ripped it
not the date for the commercial release
jonsimmonds
if ripping groups are taking this attitude then they will start to diesapear, as the main reason for thier existence is to spread the good music. if they start to be silly and say when a file can be released the people who rip those files will join another group i fink

the ripping groups need to look at what they are doing and release that in the long term they are being silly and just get back to ripping good tunes and releasing them stright away.

its just really NOT FAIR for the guy that worked so hard to rip the vinyl, then for example comes someone on TA and posts it and takes the credit 4 it.. that is really not fair..

CONGRATULATIONS MR. ARSE 2K3! How do they work so hard for a rip? huh? by plugging the TT in the pc, recording in a .wav file and then encoding to mp3? if this is hard, then i am a cell phone! Perhaps you mean they work hard to get that promo... THEY WORK HARD BECAUSE THEY WANT TO! BECAUSE DJING IS THEIR LIFE AND THEY LIVE FROM IT! u ugly ...

anyway.. i don't think the ripping groups deserve anything but a kind thank you for their time. they don't deserve prestige, or special rights or anything like that.

of course they don't deserve these . They have lost every sign of dignity they had by being nasty bastards with "youwillnevergetit" tracks...

WAKE UP PEOPLE! SHARE!IT'S TRANCE WHAT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT!

if they don't rip it, who else will do it? and if their mp3's get posted everywhere they can be more easier be traced back and get busted

and the record companys and the riaa would be very happy to get some of this major mp3 release/ripping guys

so i think they have to control it a bit

Wasn't the job of DJ's to play songs that haven't been heard b4 and thats how people learn about the songs...

so about ripping isn't it the same thing...

like the producer OWNS the track.. and poor airwave *cyber Hug* kudos to you man.. thats like slack..

aNYHOWS... they do deserve a little credit for ripping.. but that doesn't make it the owner...

Imagine this... i own a 2002 WRX... i lend it to my friend... hes a better driver than me.. does that mean he owns it??? NOOOO

So yeah.. if these ripping groups think they are all mighty and .. they are forgetting about the people power...

United we stand.. divided they fall..

if they haven't noticed.. TA is a big ass community.. with alot of weight on the scene... don't believe me.. lol... think again..

Rip Groups suck for a number of reasons.....
Yuvals ripping group sucks because he releases Danceaddicts Reconstructions (well played)
Also means we get 14 year olds on here acting godly because they've got more MP3's than anyone else (You know who you are)
And it's the same 14 year old losers that steal other people rips, and release them before the ripper can (yet again, you know who you are)
I am going to chuckle when the FBI, RIAA, and all these other abbreviations break down your door and do a cavity search for illegal MP3's. Don't say you didn't deserve it ;)
Sir. Lunchalot
I believe things have simply evolved to the state they are in now. It went the same way every other fun community goes. I`ll give you a non trance related example:

Imagine you and your buddies always meet at a public park to play soccer. Everyone has fun and from time to time other people come to join you playing soccer. They all have their love for soccer in common. At some point there are so many people that want to play soccer with you, that you decide to do it a bit more professional and you start a club (Besides that some people decide to open their own club because you are so many). Suddenly the whole situation changes because you have real matches to play and not everyone can play in every match. Things can`t be organised they way they used to when you still played in the park. You have to get some professional structures and set some rules, altough you all still share your love for soccer and simply want to play soccer with each other.

The same thing with ripping groups. Some people started to rip tracks for each other and everyone shared everything they had because they were a small community and everyone knew each other and helped each other. As soon as things turned to big, things also turned anonymously and you suddenly have people that only come to leech and don`t share. Wouldn`t be too much of a problem as long as they are not the majority but then these same people start to re-tag the mp3`s and want to be loved by everyone because they provided the tracks (what they didn`t).

All of this purely represents my own toughts since I`m not part of any ripping group but it all seems logical to me. Also I don`t have a problem with the state we are in now. I get the tunes I want. Maybe I get them a few days or weeks later than other people but I can live with that, since there is a constant stream of good new trance that is coming out. I`m not sitting there saying "OMG, that tune from ASOT two days ago!! Why has nobody released a full quality vinyl rip yet??? I can`t live without it!!!", but rather take the time to listen to the good tunes I haven`t had the time to listen to up to now. Btw: I personally can`t keep up with all the good new releases that are coming out (which to me is proof that trance is not dying or anything since there is constantly more new music than in any other genre), so I`m quite satisfied with the situation as it is, altough I can understand both sides arguing here.

My gosh why are ppl digging out old posts. Steve needs to apologize not because he does not agree but because the manner that he expressed himself. If you state your opinion and facts why you believe such and don't verbal abuse others then things are fine. I've changed my opinion about rip groups anyway, if they want to rip stuff then let them, if not wait till the cd release or the 12" release.

dj-steve: there really is no need for random flaming like that. what ppl like you dont seem to realise is that the whole point of a forum is to DISCUSS. you disagree.. so what... happens. theres 0 requirement for having a go at someone & calling them names just because of a differing opinion.

grow up.
