So I'm staying in a hotel in Boston for the next few days and this thing is on my wall. Large picture so I linked it....

What the hell is it? It has 2 speaker looking things, 2 red led's and in the middle it looks like there should be a knob but there isn't. What the hell is this thing? I saw the red led's on this morning. |

When you google MSS 100 (what is shown on the bottom right of the device,) I get the following results:

However, that doesn't look like that is what it does. I am guessing it is a communication system of sorts. Perhaps for the maid or someone to speak through to find out if there is anyone inside?
Seriously, ask them at the front counter. There is no need to be afraid to ask... I doubt they would find it strange of you to ask what a weird ass looking thing is. |

| Doubt it's for communications. I found out those 2 silver things are ultrasonic rangefinder. But what purpose does this serve? I asked a coworker if they had one in their room and they don't. |
