expect a bit of progressive, harder trance and some psy-trance. The last time he was here he played pretty hard trance and some psy as well, plays alot of different stuff that you wont hear on asot.

i had to post this:

so i'm rummaging through allllllllllll my thousands of flyers and maher gives me a new one so i got really happy cuz i love collecting flyers/posters of events. he gives me one from july 7th 2000...yeah you read that right: the year 2000! i was ing 14 years old dude, shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit.

and on this nicely designed flyer it says SOUND>04 07/07/00 and it has the cute little digitalized stereo logo in the corner...you know, real snazzy.

then i turn the flyer around to its verso...and i see something blasphemous! christopher lawrence headlined that night in july 2000 and played with Genie and maher's brother, Mike. that's not the blasphemous part. ooooooohhhhhh noooooo here it comes: above CL's name says: "the north american progressive house pioneer".

what happened? :(

...

i'm sooooooooooooooooo going to see CL now, just to have him sign that flyer and ask him a few questions ;):p

he was a hardtrance-trance dj and all releases are trance even in 2000.

while your asking him silly questions ask him why he was disqualified from djmag 2007;)

DJ Mag has since reversed their decision and apologized to both Christopher and Dan after it was proven they had no knowlege of the situation. They are both back in the list this year!

ok then i guess stereo's administration back then was way off in classifying DJs? come on...

it's not a silly question. it's actually quite valid and i think people should ask questions like these more often: why did you switch to trance after being known as a prog house pioneer? pretty legit, if you ask me.

anyways, i just found it ironic and thought i'd share it...i'll try to scan the flyer and post it up here for y'all :)

this could easily have been misclassified because it was the morales years how often did you see a trance dj at stereo. you didnt see trance dj's at stereo if you read a little about cl you'll find out he was always a trance dj and producer.. but anyway can you have someone record a video when you go ask him 'hey u were a house dj pioneer what happened braaack' and post it plz lol

discog bio lol

"Described as "A PROGRESSIVE HOUSE PIONEER" by MUZIK, Christopher became the first US artist to be signed to Scotland's cutting edge HOOK RECORDINGS in 1996.With a discography of groundbreaking tracks played by DJs from PAUL VAN DYK to JOHN DIGWEED, Christopher's critically acclaimed releases such as 'NAVIGATOR', 'INTERCEPTOR', 'RENEGADE', 'RUSH HOUR', OSHREDDER' and 'CRUISE CONTROL' have taken the US and European charts by storm as well as earning numerous accolades including his massive track 'SHREDDER' being named MUZIK magazines "VITAL RELEASE" of the month."

all those tracks are trance anthems lol.

 anyways...

i guess there was AN EXTREMELY fine line between trance and prog house back in 2000...

thought it was funny to read that he was a prog house pioneer on the flyer...considering everything he does sounds like trance...

lol maher liked trance HA!!! teehee :p
robbiej
liike anywaays  .. extremely fine line to trance and house in 2000?? lol.. if u havent figured it out yet sometimes the kids that make the flyers or event listings will grab a oneliner or full bio off teh intern3tz which was previously written by someone else, that line from the flyer obviously came from what i posted or some other article about muzik but they completely ed that up esp since they named the track 'shredder' some massive hit and put him under prog house, shredder is an uber oldschool geeky sci-fi trance tune from 1998.. all this to say, some googling and sample listening doesnt hurt anybody if they really wanted to know ;]

sasha used to produce uber epic trance and diggers dropped trance tracks all the time.. everybody had some kind of trance taste in the 90s b4 they saw the light haha

:haha: ...seriously, amen to that.

and u're right, i didn't google anything; i just went with what i had (the flyer + a few ppl who said that he did indeed play alot of prog house back in the day)

anyways i'm sure this show will be trancetastic   :p
