Found a website selling an iPhone 3G (8GB) unlocked for $305.95 CDN and (16GB) unlocked for $407.95 CDN, still sucks it wont ship out until end of July or something :(
One thing I hope they make the mobileme feature also unlimited because it would suck if we have to pay for that or switch to wifi or something to have it work :whip:

i guess u can get an unlocked iphone at an apple store in the US, seems like the iPhone only being sold at Roger/Fido stores or they might sell them online (hopefully)

I did some more calculations if you go over the amount you use per month... its killer but not that bad...
0.5$/MB * 60 = $30
0.03$/MB * 1024 = $30.72
1068 MB = $60.72 extra per month...
just sucks that the data is not like 1 - 2 - 5 - 6 GB
Rogers who have charged us about $52k for 1GB overage. Now its $60, so its sort of getting better.

with the iphone we can use our current plan and what not, from what i've heard.
Plus if you pay over $30/month you can upgrade to the iPhone, but it will still cost you $199-$299.
You can use this if you want for another option of the data plan, which is still a rip off.
Thing is if you don't have a data-plan with Rogers you are stuck with 0.05$/KB charge. Which really sucks because you use 1 GB you are stuck paying $52k. Either way we are all ed, if we want internet on the go.
Oh yah Rogers might charge $730 for an 8GB w/o contract. So check out timtechs.ca for an unlocked iPhone which is directly coming from the manufacture ;)

i specifically asked him if i could extend my Fido City plan for 3 years and get the iphone for 200$
he said yes - you do _not_ need to take one of their voice+data combos, nor a separate data plan to compliment your current voice plan
clearly they are being pushed to sell the data plans since he gave a spiel on how the iphone is a computer and needs the internets
anyway, hopefully he didn't lie

seems like a good deal.
i just wish rogers/fido would announce if they will start selling them when the doors open on July 11th or they start selling them later on during the day, like what AT&T/Apple did last year.
If its in the morning every Rogers store will be swarming with people. Place Ville Marie here I come!
