Although, remarkably I do vaguely see where she is at. Emotional resposnse immediately after an event is and should be completely different from the more thought-out, objective point of view when dealing with something as close-to-the-bone as this.
It's easy to say immediately after seeing something in the media something along the lines of "what a ing asswipe, he should hang for that, the fag", I've done it myself a few times, but you should be thinking about what you want to say before blurting it out or else risk the wrath of the flame. |

I didn't judge her entire personality on it, I judged her stance on an 'eye for an eye' based justice system on it. I've no idea where you've pulled this 'judging her entire personality' idea from, out of your arse perhaps? |

Maybe not. Any system that involves a notion of "just deserts" can easily be turned into an outlet for emotional reactions and urges for "revenge." That is ultimately what "justice" is about -- a way of averaging out and tempering all the individual desires for revenge and "recompense" that most people feel when hearing about such a crime.
Personally, I think that we can excise the notion of revenge and even the notion of justice, and treat the legal system as a means of ensuring public safety and the containment of destructive and criminal people. I don't think any notion of "desert" beyond the nominal legal form is required for a "justice system" to run smoothly. |
