Funk & Disco

This is probably the wrong website to be asking on, but can anyone recommend some good disco/funk, whether new or "authentic" (70-80's)?

This is one area where I have no idea where to start, though it's a sound I'm really digging out the moment as a kind of polar opposite to all the dark and mechanical psy-trance I'm also enjoying immensely.

Preferably I'm looking for stuff with very strong basslines, using more plucky bass guitars and deeper tones rather than the overblown symphonic strings found in late era disco. Vocals optional but also okay.

Thanks.

Sister Sledge - He's The Greatest Dancer
Why I'm posting this? Because I was listening to Hood's Fabric CD the other day and I noticed that Hood's own track The Greatest Dancer samples this one.

Apologies in advance if these don't fit the bill.

Giorgio Moroder - The Chase

Michael Zager Band - Let's All Chant

Sharon Brown - I Specialize In Love

Teena Marie - Square Biz

Curtis Mayfield - Move On Up

The Chase is probably not the case.. But i just had to. So classic.

Funkytown was a classic 80's disco hit.

I highly recommend this site: www.discomusic.com
That place is full of people who lived in that era & it is the tranceaddict of disco music.

Believe it or not, I actually have the original of that on vinyl!

That's not really what I'm looking for though, I'm looking for chunkier stuff with more groove.

Thanks anyway.
