sooo, i went to new york for the first time yesterday and let me just rub it in your faces..I LOVED IT. I really want to go to school there or something, the culture was amazing.
the worst part of the trip was we went to the statue of liberty but you can't even go near it anymore unless u pay a ridiculous amount of money for a ticket one week prior. how the hell were we supposed to know that? national security has become a little retarded

hi,

welcome

you should try exploring more

those places are boring, expensive, and maybe some of the most un-nyc things in nyc

it's cool to get a sense of the city from a tall place, though.

just more fun it's a roof party or something and not a tourist trap
try this:

there is actually a very very obvious lack of culture in manhattan compared to other cities like montreal, berlin, barcelona, london, copenhagen, tokyo, etc

i think if you're looking for real 'culture' you should stick to the lower east side, the villages, williamsburg, dumbo, etc

much more life in these places, and they are generally cheaper.

You're kidding me right? I've lived there for 11 years and nyc is probably one of the most fun, diverse, lively, and exciting cities I've ever been in.

I'll give you this, it is expensive.

He was talking about Manhattan, not the rest of NYC.

yes, the axis of hipster is far more representative of nyc's true 'culture' than a midtown tourist trap...

to the OP: try a walking tour; www.bigonion.com is one of the best.
