Both genres are predictable wich makes them easy for the dj to mix and the dancing crowd can sync with it without any problem.
Not saying this makes either of them 'boring' because that is more a matter of personal taste.

wtf. are you making the rules? wtf kind of rule is that? only trippy dance music is real dance music? theres different types of dance music, all of it real. there is dance music for people who have never done drugs before and will immediately like and appreciate. theres music that works best with an alcohol drinking crowd. and then theres psytrance which sounds great on mushrooms or acid, but when the drug wears off this music just becomes a big ing headache. you to all douchebags picking apart mattsanity's words. you all know exactly what he's trying to say instead you all look like nerdy librarians saying like "this is israeli trance which sounds similiar to psy trance but not actually psy trance, you moron" or "omg that is psy/goa/techno/prog psy hybrid not full on psy you idiot". its like differentiating between 1000 different species of ants, and calling someone an idiot that says they're all just a bunch of ants because he doesnt study the out of ants all day.

Another one who has absolutely no idea about psy but speaks like he is the father of all genres.
Wonder why I don't take drugs on a regular basis but I still like psy trance. By your logic this is impossible...

if they ever do a "Dumb & dumber 3", you and mattsanity would be perfect for the leading roles

Aw, come on.
I was expressing my own oppinion on things and you start ranting off like a bitch. Since when does people's posts in a forum count as "a rule"?
Calm down, i wasn't offending your parents or anything. No need to get rough. I'll gladly read your oppinion if you use proper arguments for this discussion. Not a bunch of "".

what constitutes having an idea about psy? if i say its awesome music and doesnt sound all the same, will i qualify? how many psy artist's tracks do i need on my hd? here's an idea you obviously havent clued in yet ... NOT EVERYONE LIKES PSY TRANCE. To these people, it sounds all the same. get over it. Yea i can listen to 1000 psy tracks and differentiate them and categorize them further into sub genres of psy, but at the end of that long painful day, i will still say it all sounds very similiar, much more so than within other genres. its extremely formulaic, just like trance in general.
i hear the same crap from psy trance enthusiasts, they all say you dont need drugs to enjoy it. this is true, this is the same argument from enthusiasts of many other forms of dance music. but i think some types of dance music relies more heavily on being under the influence than others. it gets to the point where music is made specifically to get a reaction when on a certain drug, like it was scientifically designed for a certain drug. there is a lot of rave tracks that, really, you need to be on mdma to appreciate, simply because of the frequencies and patterns used. and there is music really made specifically to get a reaction when on acid, shrooms, 2ci, or anything else that cracks the pineal gland and bridges subconcious with concious. the furthest end of that spectrum would be the classic "acid" genres, then would come goa, and from there elements of mainstreamishness like prog psy, but its still all acid music and it all sounds very similiar and formulaic when you're not tripping. heres some examples of classic acid, which when i played in a psytrance set in the past would get a bigger reaction and blow your mind way more than psytrance would, and s all over the other youtube examples in this thread (imo):
when you play this stuff, and then play psytrance, psytrance sounds cheesy and watered down, its like "acid light". if we're gonna trip then let's ing trip goddamn it, lets not foot around with the hippy guitar plucking or orchestral sounds or whatever else layerings on the real "meat" of a trippy track. its like acid techno artists trying to be artistic and make it a legitamit artform rather than just a scientific meditation tool. but make no mistake, this IS drug music specific to trippy drugs and it does all sound similiar when you've never tripped or you're not tripping. if you say otherwise you are just reliving your past trip experiences when you're listening to it sober. and if you want to lie and say you've never tripped before but you enjoy it sober (like goa gil and others) then you're an idiot, and if you actually have never tripped and enjoy it then its just a simple matter of you having for brains.

using your kind of logic makes all EDM very repetetive. All epic trance sounds more or less the same. Right? IMO psytrance sounds far far more varied than epic trance which atm more or less is concentrated to a few big labels such as Anjunabeats, Armada and Euphonic and the rest are just hordes of wannabe digital-only labels that copies the larger labels. SOUNDS VERY MUCH THE SAME RIGHT?!
And your comments about being under the influence of drugs while listening to psytrance is just laughable. Are you sure you are not a teenager with Limp Bizkit posters and a marijuana cap trying to sound sooo "i know everything about drugz, shroomz, tripz and muzic!!1" Yeaaay!
I've heard that kind of talk by nerds on the school yard when I went to 6th grade so don't give me that bull.

Basic Channel , so good. I actually never took any hard drugs, but i have to say that the music of Basic Channel (and of the whole Dub Techno genre) is enough to put you in a real TRANCE, seriously. I think that Fluxion is even better in that particular style though. Deep, primitive and ecstatic. Unfortunately i couldn't find any Fluxion tracks in Youtube ( some are trully magnificent) but i found another good dub-techno track that i used to like in the legendary Chain Reaction label.
Scion- "Emerge"
As for psy-trance, i can moderate some modern progpsy and thats it (and this, with huge efforts of self-control and will!). I used to be a huge goa/psy-trance fan when i was 16 in 1997, listening to Astral Projection, Transwave, Etnica, Total Eclipse,Prana, Juno Reactor, MFG and all that stuff, but now that i'm 27, i can't stand even 5 seconds of it, perceiving it as terrible, kitsch, ed-up music which sounds like a mixture of mickey mouse, star-trek and music from a jewish wedding on mushrooms and coke...thinking of "what was i thinking" when i was 16!?
Just my opinion though! :D

Like Rebel9 said, Israel's Full On does sound the same but that doesn't mean that ALL psy/goa tracks are identical. It's like me saying that electro house sound all the same because there are dozens of clones of Deadmau5 (see what I did there?) and based on that, electro house sucks. Cut it off and leave this thread from your presence.
P.S. The tracks you listed aren't really psy trance, they are techno.
