omg that's crazy. i would say a big portion of my life...especially social life, revolves around food. lol
usually around 10 a.m. at work i'm the one like, "ok we have to start thinking about lunch" and everyone is like, "it's 10 jamie" |

It is, truly...nutrition experts don't just make this up. I never used to eat right, and as a result was always hungry. Now I always eat a big breakfast full of stuff that'll keep me full, like whole grains and protein and fruit!
I usually eat a big breakfast, a big lunch, and something light at dinner time. Healthy snacks in between and drink lots of water. I try to buy low sodium everything, and stay away from stuff that's loaded with sugar.
Oh and protein shakes! Good for after a workout or when I don't have time for a meal or need a snack. |

Your metabolism WILL slow down though. That's just physiological fact. And skipping meals doesn't help. Eating regularly actually keeps your metabolism up, helps your body digest the right stuff, and most importantly, gives you energy. Otherwise your body just uses up the energy from your muscles for fuel...and it uses fat cells last. |
Yeah I am aware that it is actually counterproductive to skip meals. It will slow down the metabolism because I don't have a high enough caloric intake. It is just a habit of mine. A bad one too. lol

hahahah I can't eat too early in the morning, otherwise I get sick. And I usually don't get hungry till around 1pm, if I even do. So I usually eat breakfast before I leave for the train station (like 0615), and then lunch around 1pm. Dinner...well I don't always eat dinner. lol |

No doubt, I had a friend who would always skip breakfast and end up either over-eating at lunch or snacking on crap food as the morning went on. He ended up gaining weight as a result. A combination of wrong food at the wrong times = flab. |

Wrong. The reason that breakfast is the most important meal of the day really has nothing to do with nutrition. For a host of reasons it should be a very healthy meal, but, the key reason it is the most important, is because it is the meal that jump starts your metabolism, which sets the stage for your energy consumption for the whole day! No breakfast in the morning, usually results in a sluggish metabolism and a lethargic mood. |

Yeah, and your body gets used to that kind of eating as well. It's all about the glycemic index! |

I didn't say it did. Jenny mentioned that it kickstarts your metabolism which is exactly why eating in the morning when you wake is recommended, and I agreed with her. I should have been more clear in what part of her paragraph I quoted. |

+1
To me, eating is a bother... it's just another mundane task that I need to do everyday, and to be honest, if I didn't HAVE to eat, I probably wouldn't.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy food... it's the time to prepare, consume, and clean that gets tiresome for me. I have such a busy schedule that cooking, or sitting down to eat seems like a waste of time. I have even gotten into the habit of eating while I work. Often times I will go hours without eating, and I will suddenly notice that I feel like garbage.
I know it's a terrible habit, but eating is just really low on my importance list.
However, when I am "going out to dinner" or doing something that is eating oriented, then it isn't such a "waste of time" and I will savour the meal.
When I DO eat, it is usually the healthiest thing I can find. Subs, fruits, veggies etc. I eat healthy, but not often enough. |

| i can go for long periods of time without eating and a lot of the time I eat specifically to fuel my body (such as after a workout) but other times its to indulge in the sheer pleasure of it. it depends on how I feel. |
