| Hey, though house appears to be the dominant genre on this particular message board, there are still plenty of actual trance addicts on tranceaddicts.com and in Atlanta, myself included. I think the chaos at the most recent PVD and AVB shows support this claim. |

Well I am starting to realize that a lot of the forums are used for shows that are not trance. Which is cool, but I just wish there was more of a following not only in ATL but other places too. I am in San Diego visiting right now and house is the thing.....I'll dance to almost anything so I have fun as always but it just doesn't do it for me like trance. I am kinda afraid of traveling all the way to SF this October for Love Fest and then hear nothing but house music. I dunno.... |
Well, u will have some people who will attack u for saying that, but a lot of the people here in the ATL section are pretty good with not being too negative. There are a few of us who fully support trance and I know I'm one of them. I also wish there was more of a trance following. There is an over abundance of house djs not only here, but all over. Someone needs to play some trance. Maybe I should become a dj.:tongue2 |

there are a decent amount of trance events here, but the problem is that the majority of club goers in atlanta only show up to for the "mainstream" or well-publicized djs (if even; the masses here prefer crap like hip-hip and rap). don't quote me on that, but it's just what i've noticed: e.g., the poor turnouts at above & beyond and christopher lawrence last fall.

Ya, House is definitely more popular than Trance.
But we have a nice following of Trance here in Atlanta.
A lot of people here at Tech definitely like Trance. |

Yeah I know there are a good size group of people who are seriously devoted to trance but even at AVB or PVD a lot of those people are coming out because of either a) where the show is at b) Who is going to be there or c) because the DJ is extremely well known. I am not any better I suppose because compared to some of ya'll I am knew to the scence and still learning. For instance, when I was first introduced to this genre I only saw BIG DJ's because they were the ones that I recognized their names and music. Now, I am becoming more familiar with some DJ's that are great musicians but just more low key. So it's all good. Anyway...hope everyone is having a great weekend!!! :)

Exactly, there's the people who show up for Tiesto and don't even know what he looks like. Some of the bigger djs do attract some crowds just because they are well known, or their friends are going, but I'm sure there are a lot of true trance fans. I'm like you though, I am now into more djs who a lot of people may not have heard of. I go and see the bigger named djs a lot, but I genuinely like them. I think Blank and Jones are a little bit more underground, so I'm betting the crowd won't be too large, but I could be surprised. It's looking like I won't make it though. I may be out of town for a few days. I'm hoping to come up with money for either Acosta or Lawrence, but I'm not sure. |

one good thing about not as many people showing up is that you get lots of space to dance around freely :) |

CL was awesome in San Diego. I saw him on July 4th and he layed it down and since it's only $10 that leaves more money for drinks!!! ;)

yeah I remember that show out side on the street in front of Compound. I could not believe it was scheduled so early and ended sooo early!!!! I had to work and I was going to go but then found out that it was done b4 I was even thinking of heading down there. Don't think it was B&J's fault but Compound's for not doing this into the night. But they have not toured in the US all that much so they're not as known as they should be, but have produced some of my favorite tracks.
basically if I can get off work, I'm there even if it is at 1150(sic) |
