its not about being "epic" so much, its just about delivering nice melodies imo. i like "should've known" quite a lot which isnt epic at all. but most of their other releases have been pretty boring, and if youre gonna remake something like carte blanche i think you really need to make something special out of it.
otherwise youd just be sean tyas making your name with other people's songs. |
yeah i think thats we're different in what we're into. 'nice melodies' in 95% of trance drive me to a state of boredom so bad that i want to move to tasmania for excitement. I love tunes to have a bit of an edge and do something really different which a lot of trance lacks lately.
that approach is what made Marco V and sander really stand out in the way they have. :) |

oh yeah, same here mate. that's why i barely buy any tunes anymore. but every so often you get lucky with something nice. i dont mind an "edge", as long as its the edge of some really sad melody with fat synths and a chord progression to die for :toothless |

yeah, and its been that way since 2001. but there is still the odd gem coming out. in my opinion, the problem is new producers concentrate too much on their production skills, and have very little "ear" for music.
i hear new releases sometimes and their melodies seem almost random they are so disjointed and awful. |

| and the other issue is that talented trance DJs decide to hang up their melodies and start sucking a whole lot of penis saying "oh no, im into techno now". |
