Underworld to headline Summadayze - Jan 1st 2009

It may still be winter but Melbourne is about to heat up with the announcement that world renowned dance outfit, Underworld, are heading up this years Summadayze festival tour.

Since bursting onto the calendar on a sunny New Years Day in Melbourne in 1998, Summadayze is now firmly established as Melbourne’s favourite and most anticipated event on the social calendar.

Numerous awards and 11 years later, Summadayze is a spectacular 25,000+ phenomenon that tours the nation, attracts the world’s undisputed DJ elite, and is supported by its own annual, chart-topping compilation CD.

Proudly presented by Australia’s premier dance music event management team, Future Entertainment, Summadayze combines an awe-inspiring mixture of international talent, world-class décor, cutting-edge production and the freshest beats to be found anywhere on a Summers day!

Summadayze is more than an event, it’s a Melbourne icon.

UNDERWORLD (UK)
Underworld are amongst the undisputed kings of the dance world. Since their formation 27 years ago - and 15 years since the limited release of debut single ‘Mother Earth’ / ‘The Hump’ - Rick Smith and Karl Hyde remain an innovative presence in UK music.

As true pioneers of live stage and working with their friends at Tomato (the visual arts titans), Underworld shows are so much more than a gig - the duo can rightly claim to be the Godfathers of modern dance music.

With fifth studio album, ‘Oblivion With Bells’ out in October of last year, Underworld reiterated their continued relevance, again collecting critical acclaim across the board with Mixmag stating that the album confirmed that "the spirit of acid house still courses through Underworlds veins".

Tickets go on sale on August 18. In the meantime, stay tuned for a second line up announcement in two weeks time, and start getting ready for the party of the year!
