I have to say I'm somewhat relieved to see the general community already criticizing the asthetics of D3. The uproar wasn't even this significant with SC2 and it got the devs to fix the graphics, so there's still hope for this. I dream of the day when blizzard finally get it through their thick skulls that no one likes blocky models, bright cartoony textures, rainbows and rabbits. FFS they even have that stupid Warcraft 3 hero glow on the axe. :nervous: |
:(
i like it... |

why would you want it any other way? then cvnts would be running around stealing all your loot. i believe the loot dropped is designed specially for the character. |
Because you can still sell it for a good amount of change to gamble/buy something that you do need. Granted whatever it is that you picked up is rare. |

and diablo 3 just isn't dark enough (pretty cartoony too). I think all hope is lost for starcraft 2... |
I believe the reason for this is because they've changed the lead designer on this project from the previous other 2(blizzard north was dismantled if I remember correctly) |

It's not the lead designer's job, it's the art director's. But yeah, the team develloping it now are mostly world of warcraft devs. They actually did a decent job on most of the graphics, it's just the damn colors that ruin everything. Those WoW devs are used to making everything blocky and hyper-saturated. Fan criticism actually got the SC2 team to improve their graphics, just compare these two shots;
Blizzcon 2007;

WWI 2008 (last weekend);

Now if they could only get this implemented on D3;

| Completely agree, it does need a grittier feel. It's ing Diablo, not a cartoon. |

| Jesus titing christ, don't play the game if you don't like the graphics. Simple as that. Don't tell other people how to do their work, as honestly... nobody really gives a except whatever shoddy and uninformed community has been formed around the distaste for a product they have full control over the individual purchase of. |

Blizzard consistently asks for feedback and criticism on their ongoing projects, therefore, people do give a about the community, which is what makes Blizzard different from other game devellopers. They have the intelligence and the experience to understand that it is in their best interest to gauge what the fanbase wants and to deliver on that. Especially when it comes to a previousely well established franchise like Diablo. If the fanbase isn't pleased, then no one will be sustaining sales after the initial hype dies down. We know for a fact that they've released quality games in the past, so I don't think it's unreasonable to hold them to a high standard, and as a loyal customer, I intend to do just that. If this were an EA game, I wouldn't give two s about it.
Jesus titing christ, you sound as retarded as those WoW kiddies on the battlenet forum. :stongue: |
