I had nothing better to do last night, so I threw this together after a beatport run (one take w/ no prep, so flaws included). some parts worked pretty well, though, imo, so here:
1. Ellen Allien - Caress [Bpitch Control]
2. David K - Western Journey feat. Opium [Freak N Chic]
3. Mike Wall - Night Drive [Autist]
4. Prompt - Zora feat. Onuba [7Noise]
5. Marco Dassi - Robocop (MiniCoolBoys Remix) [Autist]
6. Ambivalent - R U OK (Kasper is OK Remix) [M-nus]
7. Camea - Tres Cabezas [Clink]
8. Heinrichs & Hirtenfellner - Bazar Inflagranti [Highgrade]
9. Babyltr0n - Responsibility (Gary Beck Remix) [Perc Trax]
10. Sascha Ciccopiedi - Sturmliebe [Level Non Zero]
11. Stephan Bodzin - Bremen-Ost [Herzblut]
12. Kollektiv Turmstrasse - Luchttoorn [Connaisseur]
+some snippets from Jorge Savoretti - 150 Reasons to Bite You (Ryan Crosson Remix) [Esperanza]

Gave a listen. Loved the track selection. Will have this on my ipod. Good chill out set or something to listen to at work when I'm trying to focus. A little rough on the transitions and mastering. But you covered that in your post. Overall, enjoyed it much. Intro track is really good. That Bodzin track is primo also.
Nice work fool. |

| Yep. Skimmed it to see what the tracks were like running together. Wanted to hear what you put together before I went to bed. I know some of those tracks so I passed through it. ADD this time of night is a bitch |

I think it was Derrick May who said 'one of the most fulfilling aspects of techno and electronic music is the sense of community it evokes'. There's nothing less sprightly and twitter in life than watching your friends grow and develop artistic skills that you're pretty fond of. In my opinion, to write a fair review one has to distance himself from the work itself - I'll attempt to do this from an unbiased and objective standing.
From the very start the mood is pitched black, the basslines of 'Caress' carry the listener along a daedalic journey which is fit for the purpose, an opening track where the vocals fade in and out in a doepfler'esque* manner, an effective tool to set a starting groove (props, well done!).
The transition from 'Caress' to David K's 'Western Journey' is perhaps the roughest transition throughout the entire set, and it's not even that bad to begin with. In addition, 'Western Journey' is an opus of a grim passage into the mind of a mad man. I will purchase this.
Mike Wall's 'Night Drive' is my favorite track from this entire set. At first, one does not pay much attention to the details but as the flamenco guitar is introduced, the entire mood of the set shifts to a much lighter tone compared to the first two tracks. Here, I'll take the liberty to express how important it is to follow a concept when mixing or composing. This mix follows an eidetic ulterior motive in that it remains true to it's caliginous nature, and even if it was only a random piling of beats it definitely triggered my creativiy and I was able to understand what the artsit (dj) wanted to express.
I'll have more soon. Like I said, this is a fairly good mix and I'm enjoying myself alot atm. Some rough bits like Steve added but very well done...I'll have more soon... |

enjoyed this. That Ellen Allien track is really great, such a spacey track and a nice way to start off the ride. Held on right up to the end, and though I personally thought the Bodzin track was the weakest of the bunch it still made sense in the mix.
A++++ seller would listen again. |
