I think I'm going to get this phone this week and see what its all about. I've been waiting for the touch pro and I guess it'll be within the 30 days to return it if i want the physical keyboard or not.

Yeah, that's probably a good idea. Some people have difficulty with the on-screen keyboards for HTC's recent phones. I'm used to the touchscreen because my previous phone was the regular Touch... was a bit frustrating at first but then I got comfortable with it, especially with XT9. My friend told me you can download different on-screen keyboards too, but I never really looked further into that.

Yea the name of it is SPB Full Screen Keyboard. Thats the best one I've heard of. I'm upgrading from a Moto Q so it may be a little different as far as texting goes, but the MotoQ keyboard sucks and doesnt register all the key presses. Quite annoying really.

that's what I've got now. I've never had a problem with it actually not recognizing stuff. it's just that the keys are really awkward & poorly laid out.

It does everything I want, but every text or so a key or two wont register so I have to go back and edit the message. Not the biggest deal ever but can get annoying. I agree with the awkwardness and poor layout. Texting with one hand is near impossible because of the wide body and since the keys are so small it makes it inefficient.

Basically I just want a new phone :D

so do I. my main issues with it, though, are the slow start-up & mediocre battery life. I have the giant one that sticks out the back and if I place a bunch of calls or hop online, it won't last me a day. any data use absolutely kills it.

...that and the bad keyboard.

I have it highly modded with extra programs so restarting it takes forever. And it tends to freeze with some of those programs (ie virtual pool) and since the phone naturally has low system resources it lags like no other. I have the standard battery and I can usually get about a days worth of usage, but it can't be ridiculously heavy usage. I have to kill programs via the task manager all the time to maintain battery life.

yeah, that pisses me off to no end. NOTHING shuts down when you exit it. If I never have to use a "kill all" function again, I would be happy.

I haven't modded mine at all and the lag is already horrible.

I have Facade on it which is basically a home screen skin. Much better imo than the sprint screen or anything built in by MS. I also have PDAnet on it which is awesome but its buggy as hell since the Moto Q has a moody mind of its own. If you're planning on keeping the phone i might recommend a program called Candlelight. It dims the screen when activated and helps conserve battery life. Its a noticable difference in terms of increased battery life, and doesnt use hardly any resources.

I do not plan on keeping it.

So the Xperia has been released, but networks are still SOOOO slow on the uptake. Orange aren't likely to have their branded version until next month still :(
