Anyone have any idea of a good pair of headphones?
I keep getting these crappy earbud, and actualy headphones but they all seem to suck lol
Does anyone have any suggestions to a decent pair for listening to music?
I indifferent between earbuds and acutal headphones, but if they are headphones I don't want anything to big.
Noise Cancellation would be a bonus, but paying $200+ for a good pair of headphones is not something i'm really looking at right now..
From what i'm been told, Shure makes some great earbuds...

Shure make fantastic earbuds. I own what are now the Shure SE110 (used to be different model name when I bought them). I have had them for about 2 years now with no problems except the cable had a tear in it that Shure took care of with exceptional service. They had me ship my old pair out to Montreal and I had a brand new pair within 3 days.
I highly recommend their products.
I would also look at Grado (but they can get pricey). |

Nice..just what I was looking for.
I was looking at the Shure SE110 as those are pretty much the only affordable earbuds that Shure makes (well, thats under $200).

I would also recommend Grado if you have the cash. |

Perfect timing of this thread!
Well before I give my opinion and no matter how cliched this might sound, good headphones/earphones ARE subject to individual preferences in terms of sound, comfort, style, etc.
First of all, I can only hope that none of you still use the crappy stock earphones that come packaged with your mp3 player. I'm no audiophile but you'll know what I mean when you upgrade to a decent pair from what you thought were the best at first.
I went from my original iPod earphones to the Creative EP-630 earbuds (the change in sound was very, very appreciable in a positive way and they lasted for a year) and recently I just bought the Shure SE110s.
I don't know if its just me but IMO, I found my previous set of Creative buds better in terms of sound quality and comfort - clear, crisp and deep but not overpowering bass. On the other hand, the Shure SE110s were weak in bass and the highs were noticeably skewed for high-hats and snares. The mids were much clearer. However, I have to say the Shures isolated the outside noise a tad better owing to the fact that they are 'ear canalphones', i.e., they go deeper into your ear as opposed to earbuds. Comfort wise, they're a little cumbersome to plug them into your ears initially but you get over that pretty quick.
If you want something <$50 then I'd say give the Creative EP-630s a try. If you have the budget for up to $100, then you have some decent Sony earbuds & canalphones in that range.
Also, from what I've been reading in reviews, the Shure SCL-2 model (which is from their professional products line) is known to perform better than the SE110s which was aimed for the consumer market.
I'm sure Bobby (Orko) can give you his opinion on those since he just got them plus he owned a previous Shure pair for about 5 years I think.
Just so you know I got the Shure SE110s from Future Shop for $112 including tax. I'll be returning those soon and trying out either the Sony's or the SCL-2 in that price range. So you could give the SE110s a shot and see for yourself if you like them or not. |

I have a pair of great Shures E2cs earbuds (that what they were called when i got mine years ago I think)
and a pair of the Bose noise-cancellation ones.
Both are phenomenal, and i really love my Shures....
but earbuds in general early bother my ears. Cant deal w/ them anymore.
I by far and wide prefer my Bose headphones nowadays.
(The compactness and unobtrusiveness of the Shures E2cs is SO nice though! Miss that)

And Ill 2nd (or 3rd...) this!
Before I bought my Shures and Bose headphones/earbuds,
For years and years I had a GREAT pair of Senheisers.... forget their make now (but thatd be irrelevent anyways, since i seriously doubt same model would still be selling nowadays)... anyways, they were a fantastic pair of headlines. Loved them the most out of any pair ive ever owned.
(Kinda wish they still worked... still have them, but they've sene teh end of their days... only the left channel works now... such a shame... but they last a long time and wear wonderful) |

Are they still called E2cs?
I can't find them anywhere.
I was looking and found a place that has the SE210 for a decent price, so I might try those.
My friend here at work uses Shure, not shure (haha) what model, but i'll give them a test out later today and see what its like.

Not too sure, Jeff.
I did a quick search.

These are the ones for sure. Shure E2c Sound Isolating Earphones.
If Shure has changed their name in the recent past, can't help you out anymore than that. Sorry. |

They are no longer called this. This was the model name when I got them. These got replaced with the SE110. The SE110 are identical except for the body. Shure just changed the cosmetic body of the earphone, but the internal makeup is the same as far as I know. |
