F*** You Brett Favre (pg. 3)

The only Packer endorsement that was ever completely awesome was when Gilbert Brown was playing here and Burger King carried the "Gilburger."

That was a hefty meal at a reasonable price. That is, so long as you were willing to risk a mid-meal heart attack.

this whole story is so sweet... i have hated favre for so many years and how sweet it'd be for him to come to the Bucs and win a superbowl in Tampa in their own stadium w/ his old QB coach Gruden...

this whole story is hilairious to everybody outside of greenbay..

if they dont trade or release him then if i were Favre, I'd take them up on that offer to sit on the bench and take up a roster spot and earn your 12 million or whatever...

in the recent interviews he seem very bitter towards the Packers

The only person he should be mad or bitter at is himself. If he had any inkling that he may want to play, he shouldn't have played up the whole dramatic retirement press-conference in March. I'm also shocked that he's playing the "The Packers are being s" card, because I can't imagine a bigger dick move than retiring, having Rodgers get his first shot at training for a starting gig, and come back 3 months later saying "Hey buddy - you mind sitting this one out again?" I think Ted Thompson is an absolute twat, but the way he's handled this situation was (IMO) the best he possibly could have. At the end of the day, Favre isn't the future of Green Bay - if he wants to ruin his own legacy with fans who've been absolutely rabid for him for nearly 20 years, that's on him.

My bet is that when the dust settles he'll be back to the vicodin and booze because it's the only solace he's going to find for being a complete ing prick.

I also realize it's hilarious to anyone outside of Wisconsin, but to be honest - I'd have figured that at this point, the rest of the sports world would be as tired of it as anyone else, as it's the only thing that's dominated sports news for weeks now.

Yesterday I wanted to watch Sports Center during breakfast, 25 of the first thirty minutes I watched were on Favre. I switched to the news and the ONLY stories they reported on were Brett Favre and Pitt/Jolies stupid kids.

I wanted to destroy my television.

But seriously, as a Packers fan, I have been dying all off-season to watch Rodgers play these upcoming games. That game he had in Dallas, last season, really got me excited.

I still believe that Favre is asking for a release due to the fact that he doesn't want to butt in on the Packer's future plans with Aaron and the franchise.

If Brett ends up going to a different team, I'm going to cheer for him all the same. We still think of Joe Montana as a legend, even though he played his final season with the Chiefs. So I'm not the least bit worried about #4's legacy becoming tarnished.

However if he ends up starting for the Packers on Week 1, I'm going to be fairly pissed off......

Because, let's face it, he's probably going to pull off this exact same stunt 365 days from now.

The difference was that Montana sat the bench in San Francisco for at least one season before going to KC. Steve Young won the MVP with Montana on the bench.

This whole Favre situation has been the height of juvenile drama, and it's unfortunately looking like the last impression Packer fans will have is of an indecisive douchebag who caused a lot of drama during a critical offseason.

My only hope, as I said before, is that the rest of the team is as good at tuning this out as it appears they've been thus far.

So far, I've been impressed with how Aaron Rodgers has been dealing with it.

Side note: While the majority of Cheeseheads were in an uproar about Rodgers' recent Sports Illustrated comments, I was wearing my #25 Ryan Grant jersey giving Aaron an imaginary pat on the back! :p

I think the community is in general pretty divided by it - but it seems to come down to the following in most cases:

- The group that wants Favre back in Green Bay seem to be the fair weather fans who only know who Brett Favre is, have invested countless dollars in "Favre" jersey's and books, yet have probably never watched a full Packer game in their life.

- The group who want Favre to shut up and go away are those who'd have been happy to see him play another season - if he were completely committed to it form the beginning, meaning he wouldn't have played the emo-drama "OMG I don't wanna play football no mo!" retirement card. We moved on after Favre retired, and found some modicum of faith to have in Rodgers because he was definitely "the guy" from the beginning of the offseason this year.

I hate the first group of people with a passion.

I am 100% with you on that.

It kind of sucks that it was my father who raised me to be a Packers fan (he grew up in Wisconsin), and now we are divided on this issue. He has this huge collection of Green Bay merchandise in his garage and about 80% of it consists of Brett Favre. While bits and pieces of the remaining stuff consist of historical Green Bay Packers "artifacts". It's almost as if he's grown to be a Brett Favre fan first, and a Packers fan second.

It's actually not that different from the Luke Skywalker / Darth Vader dilemma:

"I know that there's a hardcore Cheesehead in your. The Emperor (Favre) hasn't driven it from you fully!"

"It is too late for me, my son......"

:p

That is the single greatest football analogy I have ever seen.

If I had a million internets to give, they'd go to you.

Well, Jeff - you win. Half of the state of Wisconsin has either officially forgotten about or has grown to despise Brett Favre.

He made football a lot of fun throughout my life, but the absolutely appalling and utterly disrespectful behavior he's displayed this off-season shows absolutely no class what-so-ever.

I'm just grateful that for the most part, Rodgers (and the rest of the team) has kept his mouth shut and his head down. I'm still not as confident in him as I'd like to be, but the way the players and coaching staff have responded to this issue has at the very least been rather class.

This whole situation has really just crushed a lot of Packer fans. Congratulations on all of your success, Jeff.

there, there

The whole press conference yesterday was an absolute ing sham as well.

Favre doesn't feel welcome in Green Bay? Wow, what a shocker. What else would you expect when you've acted like a complete cunt for the last month?

I feel as bad for the rest of the Packers as I did for every other played on the San Francisco Giants who had to put up with Bonds shenanigans.

This whole situation has given me some pause - was it Favre I've hated for so long or the Packers? I mean, you have to hand it to them - I figured the GM would just cave and let Favre back on the roster. The fact that they actually have the future in mind has won them some respect in my mind.

All in all, I want to see more sulky Favre quotes in the media. I can't get enough of this story.
