packer is by far the best name in sports.

This creates more buzz than cry baby rumors.

American football sucks, Baseball sucks..hell most American pro sports suck. Can't understand why there are so many that are into it. Its nothing but a big commercial campaign. I hate dealing with clients at work that insist on talking about that one touchdown pass or catch so and so made...big F&*$ing deal I say.

I'm also shocked that he's playing the "The Packers are being s" card, because I can't imagine a bigger dick move than retiring, having Rodgers get his first shot at training for a starting gig, and come back 3 months later saying "Hey buddy - you mind sitting this one out again?" I think Ted Thompson is an absolute twat, but the way he's handled this situation was (IMO) the best he possibly could have. At the end of the day, Favre isn't the future of Green Bay - if he wants to ruin his own legacy with fans who've been absolutely rabid for him for nearly 20 years, that's on him.

can't the man change his mind??... yes its dick to the organization but, he said to help with your ease just release me... they said no... so they are now being the dick...

jordan changed his mind multipule times and i could go on with other semi-retired players doing the ole switch-a-roo..

My bet is that when the dust settles he'll be back to the vicodin and booze because it's the only solace he's going to find for being a complete ing prick.
you bitter much about this??

I also realize it's hilarious to anyone outside of Wisconsin, but to be honest - I'd have figured that at this point, the rest of the sports world would be as tired of it as anyone else, as it's the only thing that's dominated sports news for weeks now.
im in Tampa and love hearing about it and my wife of all people who hates football acutally is in to this drama too..

Yesterday I wanted to watch Sports Center during breakfast, 25 of the first thirty minutes I watched were on Favre. I switched to the news and the ONLY stories they reported on were Brett Favre and Pitt/Jolies stupid kids.

I wanted to destroy my television.
even in tampa where I love hearing them talk about the Rays over and over this is a great break b/c its real drama and we love to see the Packers squirm

all teams #1 priority is to win a superbowl, so they have to think they have a better chance with Rogers than with Favre (i disagree, but whatever).... so i guess they can deal with a roster spot and the cap room to keep Favre, b/c the alternative of trading him or releasing him is worse...

I know RJT will love watching this one. :P

What does this thread about Brett Favre have anything to do with your sand-in-your-vagina whining about nothing?

Sure he can, but allowing him to change his mind doesn't mean all of a sudden I don't think he's an absolutely classless cunt for doing it the way he has.

You bet I am. The majority of Packer fans are - I'm not particularly ashamed of it.

The Packers #1 priority is ensuring the ability of their team to win for more than one season at a time. Whether or not Favre will be sound this next year is completely irrelevant when taking into consideration the future of the team. Even if they won the Super Bowl this year, he would be gone, and we'd be back to square one as is.

Do I think there's a chance he can come back this season, play for someone else, and irk out one more decent season?

Sure. And he could have done that in Green Bay if he had thought about his decision to retire instead of holding Emo-Press Conference 5000 3 months ago.

So we're back to the initial point: the conduct of Brett Favre throughout this entire situation has lacked even the slightest shred of class.

I have no problem with acknowledging nearly two decades of epic football in the same breath that I call the man a prick for his actions this off season.

if this is about the Bucs losing to everybody from 1982-1996... that wouldnt qualify as a rivalry... everybody ass pounded us..

not when you went 13-3 and made the NFC championship last year and you are bringing everybody back... Favre had one of his best years last year...if you have the chance to win the Super Bowl this year then you focus on that... you dont sacrifice a true chance at winning the Super Bowl just to ensure you are decent in the coming years.

agreed, but his classless act is still on the table of him wanting to return and his skills still warrant attention.... i dont care about legacy or whatever..

bottom line for me is that i never liked Favre and since its an internal issue between their "hero" and the Packers (whom I was never really fond of, see above ass pounding) i just find it amusing.... the same thing would be between AFC cities and AFC people if this same story came about with Brady or Manning...

and im obvioulsy more interested in this story b/c we have our own QB issues and that Tampa is on the top of people's list of places that Favre could go to.... and only do I want Favre on the sideline as a backup for the pure drama of it... and in no way do I want him to come back and play for any other team besides Tampa...

Rob- play Packers GM for me and tell me what you would do

Given that Favre comes back to play and commish Goodell reinstates him and Favre reports to training camp in 2 weeks

1. release favre to all teams

2. trade favre - for who or what?

3. keep him and either play him or not... still would make a $12 mil salary cap hit and roster spot

4. something i didnt mention?

That chance went out the window when he retired, which is my whole point here. You don't walk away from a team saying you don't have it in you to do the work anymore and come back three months later to kisses, cuddles, and confidence.

I'm an asshole. I'd pay him to sit at home and watch the game on TV.

Whether or not that's the best option for the Packers is another matter entirely. Either way, I do probably think keeping him is the best bet - regardless of what the motives behind it are, but releasing him and showing confidence in Rodgers, while it may prove to be a huge gamble, is still something I'd rather see McCarthy and Thompson do as opposed to acquiescing to the requests of a legend simply because his name is Brett Favre.

So TA Rob wants him to sit at home and collect a pay check and roster spot. Oblivious to the cap hit, short 1 man on a tight 53 man roster, and piss off the locker room (that last pissing off part is subjective, but i just wanted to toss that in for s and giggles, no need to comment back on that one)
got it.. check.. mother cunt fucker etc...

What does GM Rob want? You contradicted yourself in your last paragraph...

here again not allowing Favre to be released on his terms..ie. keepign him

(btw, dont make me use dictionary.com again... ;))

Rob... I'm bringing this point up and trying to get an answer from a Pakcer/ Favre fan b/c its a true curiosity of mine to see what the fan wants. Its a horrible situation for the Packer community and a no win situation for the team. So basically I want to see which poison you pick and why... and the main reason it's such a hot topic is that the Packers are ed if Favre calls their bluff and shows to trainign camp...
