Great boatcruise. People were great, track selection good, programming was quite poor. Not sure if he was tired or what but I was surprised to hear him miss several mixes.

if only all cruises were like that one.

couldn't believe we were still docked at almost 2pm!.....but the 3 following hours were well worth the wait...totally insane....Im making a mental note to check out locodice everytime he comes back to T.O. from now on!

I flip flopped back and forth about this party more than a few times (at the expense of Jon's piece of mind ;)), but I'm glad I went.

The fact that the boat was still docked at almost 2pm was more unacceptable than annoying. I've noticed that on all 3 Rock the Boat cruises I've been on, the boat has left way too late (although one time it wasn't the fault of the organizers). If I'm paying $50 for a 4 hour boat cruise, I want 4 hours, not 3.

Anyway, the cruise was good times besides that. Loco Dice played a fun set, with quite a few really deep, groovy minimal tracks that I loved. He played a style of minimal that I don't really hear much place else. However, he was a pretty bad mixer, his EQ-ing was way too predictable, and his programming was a bit off. I still had a great time, but his lack of technical ability did affect my enjoyment of the set. For me personally, a huge part of a techno set is how good at effects, sampling and EQing the DJ is (re: Richie Hawtin, Jeff Mills or Luciano). Loco Dice was poor at all of those skills. I pretty much enjoyed all of the tunes he played, but he needs to improve his technical game by a lot. (I think at one point I said, "This guy can't mix to save his life" a bit more loudly than I wanted to, right beside the DJ booth. Oops! )

The crowd was great. They were up for it, and it wasn't really that sketchy until the last 45 minutes where everything went to shambles lol. A great aspect of the cruise was that, although there were more guys than girls, literally 9/10 girls on the boat were at least pretty hot. That's why I love Rock the Boat parties. :gsmile:

I was a little bit subdued at the party because I had been drinking every night from Thursday to Sunday, and had a bad hangover before the boat, so I was pretty dehydrated. The sun absolutely owned me like it never has before. I'm never going on a boat after drinking the night before again. I was DEAD after the cruise, to the point where it took me 2 hours to regenerate my energy before I could go to Cherry Beach.

The cruise and Cherry Beach gave me a crippling hangover today. One of the worst I've ever had, lol. I tried writing this review earlier today and failed miserably.

Fun times, and I look forward to my next Rock the Boat. Just leave on time next time please!

I've re-read little G's review 5 times and it makes me laugh every time...

I'm not making excuses for Loco Dice, but this may shed some more light on the mixing skillz mystery... From what I was told he's only ever played on CDJ's twice in his entire life lol He normally plays on turntables (don't ask lol) and opted against them when considering equipment on a boat...

ps. Loco played a track about 25-35mins into his set which was pretty popular, clangy techno repeating melody sound, almost a bit electro sounding (in sound). Does that ring a bell for anyone? Karlo I'm looking at you...

I would have to agree with G on his review in regards to Loco's technical skills, simply because he made even more mistakes at fw the night before, where he was spinning vinyl, ive counted a total of 5 mistakes, 2 skips, and 3 weird mix ins, one of them being pimp jackson, which is his own track

however his track selection and hotness totally make up for his technical abilities hehe
