No! I had a huge crush on Laetitia Casta when I was a teenager, and when she was chosen as that woman that symbolises the French Republic, I thought there would be pictures of her topless with the French flag everywhere...

Ou-est que sont les pics!?

I like France.
I think I like it more now than I did when I lived there. I agree with people who say they like to visit but wouldn't want to live there. I guess France is an acquired taste?

I think it all depends on the situation too, as I have plenty of friends who absolutely love France (one who lived there for almost 10 years).

I guess when I was there was a pretty bad time particularly for an American to be there - 4 months after the Iraq war started, and only a week or two after "Mission Accomplished."

It was just odd - because in every other country I visited, people definitely treated my government and myself as separate entities worthy of praise or criticism on their own merits. That didn't happen in France, and as I was pretty young (19) and had only just begun international travel, I imagine it was a bit more traumatizing experience for me than most.

It's just definitely an image I've kept with me since then, and I wish it weren't that way.

That's OK, I'm perpetuating some right now. It's like pooping - to one degree or another, everyone does it. Just not as often or to the same degree as each other :p
