Letters (the ones you write out on paper and stuff in envelopes)

The "Dear _" thread got me thinking...

Do any of you guys write regular old letters anymore?

When was the last time you wrote a paper-letter and sent it off through the mail?

For me, it must have been when I was little and sending thank-you notes for birthday gifts.

E-mail seems to have completely eclipsed the letter among all but the oldest generations. At least, I never see people sending "snail mail" letters anymore. I would be kind of weirded out if I got a hand-written letter from someone, especially if it were someone my age.

It would be a neat surprise, though.

1992 was the last time I mailed a letter. If I got a hand written one today, I would laugh and lose respect for the person who sent it.

Sucks for you.

There is so much more behind a written letter than an silly email. I think you're too rotten to get them anyway. I'm sure you'd like it if you got one and you'd giggle like a little school girl.

Why :wtf:

That sucks, I never do it. Also, I hate having to fax companies (why do they still ask for that?)

I hate envelopes and stamps. The only things I mail out are UPS packages usually, and even that sucks.

It just doesn't make sense to write handwritten letters. I mean... why?!

lol @ school girl...rotten yes, but still would not like a written letter. I rely heavily on technology for communicating, and dealing with snail mail and hand written letters is reverting backwards and I have no interest in that.

If you look at it that way of course... but I view letters as a small gift from someone you enjoy now. It's not meant nowadays to be solely for communciation. It's just amusing to me to have a physical copy of someone's thought of you, in their handwriting, surviving potentially forever. Consider me emo, but that's just how I feel.
