haha I hate Jäger, but the one that is actually made for Germany tastes MUCH better than the one here in the states.

at a dinner i went to last year, i had rum tasting as part of the dessert. holy fux0rs. 5 different rums, ranging from dry to fruity tastes. i definitely liked the rums that were middle of the road, had a good mix of subtle rum flavor with just enough fruitiness to add flavor. i couldn't tell you the names of the rums because i was so blasted at this point, but it was fantastic. i believe one or two of them were from south america and the rest were from various caribbean islands. didn't think there was more to rum than bacardi/the captain/etc.

Well your first mistake was buying flavored vodka. Never ever buy flavored vodka. It tastes like , and you get tired of it easily. You must buy unflavored, and quality stuff.

i have to disagree here as long as you get hanger one.

While Hangar One is a good vodka, I don't care what brand it is, flavored gets old quick and makes you want to puke. I have drank everything from vanilla to watermelon to peach to raspberry. The problem with flavored vodka, is that the flavors are ALWAYS too strong, with one exception, Effen branded vodka. I have never had any other ones that are as subtle as this one. Goose, Hangar One, Ketel, etc. They are all too strong.

I find the hanger subtle enough. I've only had the Kafir Lime, Mandarin Blossom, and Buddha's Hand though. I haven't had the vanilla. I found none of them to be vomit inducing. They all made very good drinks and were certainly easily drinkable straight.

I will have to try these in those tiny ass single shot bottles if I can find them. No way I am buying a whole bottle. lol

If your ever in the bay area you could always swing by the distillery as its in emeryville. In addition I think what helps the Hanger one stuff is that they are made with real fruit and the vodka is infused with the real fruit. Rather than most vodkas that use either just the juice to infuse with or use fake artificial crap. It tastes more like a steeped vodka rather than a flavored one.

I think nchs will agree if he really did spend sometime here, as long as rums go, you cant compete with it.

also, to which part of the country are you coming?

During college I probably drank more Captain Morgan rum than I drank water.

the only rum drink i can do is a mojito and that's only because the mint, lime, and sugar totally negate the taste of the rum.

i drank half a bottle of cheap dark rum on NYE 2001. ever since then i can't stand the taste of it.

Exactly how the Effen stuff is. And the taste is so light and barely noticeable, but just enough, you don't feel like you have to puke over it.
