well think what you want about the comments, the tracks are great! both mixes rock!
Omega_Blue
gotta agree with ben and sen here, why get upset about the comments? some of them have at least a little substance. personally i'd love to get good comments from *insert famous dj here* and i'd be slapping said comments all over a promo thread such as this one in the hopes of getting more people to listen to/buy it. obviously only idiots are going to think "sasha says it's cool so it must be cool," the more objective individuals will realize sasha at least listened to it and had the time to comment on it, so it *may* be worth a listen. promoter's objective is satisfied.

i'd be more upset if the promoters were making up the quotes instead.
evo8
yeah but why do all these comments need to be posted?
If the tune is good enough it wont need all these comments and promotion, the big djs will pick it up and play it anyway giving it all the promotion it needs?
MACBOOK69
great tracks, even though this whole thread is nothing about the tracks

I have to say something... instead of being so wound up in the internet (this forum especially) why don't you do something productive and attempt that remix of Tom's track already that you were telling me I need to wait for? I bet if you ever actually start producing this very same feedback will be valuable to you as a barometer to see how well you are doing as a producer.

And all of your comments are sort of like slap in my face as a label owner and your wife works for me. I bet if you ran your own label you'd think otherwise... that is unless you tried running it in some new philosophical, unconventional way.

Somebody got a little upset. I'll refrain from throwing the definitions of "works", "employee", and "volunteer" out there for the moment as I really see no need to lower myself to the level you seem to have found yourself at. To be honest, I thought much better of you - never would have seen this one coming, but we're all full of surprises, right?

Anyway, as for my comments being a slap in the face - people aren't always going to agree with you, choosing to respond with insults is hardly convincing of anything other than how upset you seem to be.

And I wouldn't use feedback like this as a barometer of anything other than whose radar I've shown up on and to sell records - certainly not as to how well I'm doing as a producer. There is none, literally no feedback what-so-ever in comments like those worth anything more than "_____ thinks it's good so I'll like it" - on top of which, the same series is reposted over and over again each week. It doesn't make a track standout - on the contrary, it makes them appear as part of the herd.

Next time maybe think about what you're reading before you decide to respond to it. Thinking about your response would be appreciated too - but again, it's the internet, I can't ask too much of people.

So you're right, I guess it's not so much "smoke and mirrors" as it is everyone giving each other really lazy, half-assed, painfully obvious and disingenuous handjobs.

But hey, if those are the kinds of kudos you guys need, hey, by all means - go on. No one ever said they expected it to stop. :)

I don't see much difference from a lot of the "DJ Promotion" comments?

touche ... and you aren't lowering yourself when someone is making conversation with you by asking questions of your opinion and you start attacking them and telling them you feel sorry for them if they feel otherwise?

I never expected anyone to agree with me... and you should do the same with your opinions.

right back at you.

an absolute joke of a marketing tool, as are the people who read them and think "Gee, that must mean it's good - Hernan said it's 'very good.'"

What a ing joke.

your elitism is disturbing... calling people a joke b/c they think they will like a track b/c one of their favorite DJs likes the track? Come on Rob, I think you're way out of line here. The whole reason this scene exists in my opinion is to get together with people and enjoy music together and have a great time regardless of tastes, creed, religion, race, etc etc etc etc. Matter of fact it's the only scene I know of like it and that's why I'm in it.

You spend so much time on here blasting your opinion in everyone's face when it seems you could do so much more with your time and energy.

How did I attack anyone here?

I do genuinely think it's absurd if anyone reads "feedback" like this and takes it even remotely seriously.

I'm sure it's great to hear who's playing your tracks, and that's wonderful for the producers and the labels - just don't expect anyone with half a clue to read the kinds of "feedback" that appears verbatim week after week here and think "Gee, they must really, really like this."

It's marketing. Plain and simple. If I didn't read the same quotes every week maybe you'd change my mind, but that's not the case.

Where was it I expected anyone to agree with me? Frankly, I don't even know what this comment means.

Elitism? What exactly about my opinion is elitist here? The fact that I choose the music I like to listen to and play without worrying whether or not Sasha or someone else is playing it?

:conf:

I don't spend any time on here doing anything other than positing my own opinion - unfortunately, my confidence in it seems to rub plenty of people who can't cope with dissenting opinions the wrong way.

The only person out of line in this thread has been you. I understand you're a label owner and that you have a vested financial interest in which DJ is sending you your internet mwuggles this week - I, however, don't. Does the fact that I disagree with it mean you should automatically default to vague personal insults and involving someone in this disagreement who literally had nothing to do with it?

I don't particularly think so.

Further, I don't subscribe to this "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" nonsense you keep hammering me with. If no one ever said anything unless they had something nice to say we'd be living in the most bull, fake, phony world we could possibly live in - and I don't plan on taking part in perpetuating that kind of nonsense.

I think it's great that you and others can put "tracklisted by _______" or post tracklists of big DJ's playing your records, it's something you should be proud of - and I have rarely had the kind of respect I have for much of the MWTA crowd that works as hard as they have the past few years.

That respect, however, doesn't mean that I'm automatically going to agree with you on anything at all - and neither you, nor anyone else, is going to convince me that "it's good" or "like it" are worth much of anything to anyone beyond the artist who's made the track. The people who buy records solely based on top ten charts of big name DJ's or "it's good - ______" are, to me, what lowers the overall standards for quality in the scene you claim to love. I can't imagine why you'd want those practices to continue.

And those comments are as worthless of these.

i think basically what seneca's trying to say is you're coming off as a complete prick in this thread, and when someone calls you out on any "opinion" you post you get severely defensive. granted a lot of the time you make valid points, and i agree with many of your opinions, but sometimes it seems like you bitch just to bitch. hey, we all do it from time to time. it gets excessive though.

:stongue:

How long have you been waiting to call me a prick?

;)

So satisfying in its predictability. Have a good evening, Nate.
