it really wasnt both. one never showed, and the one that did show ruined my entire outlook on trance.
terrible. unbelieveably terrible. i used to enjoy watching dj's enjoy their own music while they spin. but kyau was absolutely annoying.
he was jumping around like a chicken with his head cut off, rocking out to the most rediculous renditions of air guitaring, getting all lovey dovey in the break downs, mouthing the lyrics and what not, disappearing for minutes on end to break back out for the climax of the track! laugh. it was terrible. Even my ignorant freind whos main love is trance, and who was so excited to see that set came to me after and said

'man that was gay, wtf was he doing? i couldnt even watch the whole set'

to which i agreed. at roughly 4:30 i walked away from the newly changed mainstage tent, and went to enjoy some minimal. where the dj wasnt putting on a bigger show himself then the music he was spinning. there was also females in close approximation to that area. which by 4:30, females near the 'mainstage' trance stage, were about as common as House Hippos. (god i love that commercial, looks so real)

Other then that sad event,

my first WEMF rocked. with a few minor exemptions.

-THE REVIEW-

Well we left cambridge a tad late, due to our other patrons work scheduels, and turns out for the best ironically. by the time we arrived which was probably in the area of 1130-midnight friday, It had been a long, Yet beautiful drive.
Our main coach for the weekend, a multi-wemf going HH/hardcore fan of ours had prepared for us a list much like the one on the rollcall. Which i checked off nearly every essential i felt was necessary to live through this weekend. Sadly she didnt put SHOES on the list, and 23 minutes into the trip, i realised 3 pairs of socks were going to get pretty lonely. Luckily we stopped at Yorkdale, and i swung in to get a half ass pair of black'sh joggers. they saved my life.
We drove through the beautiful terrain that was the route up there, and after nearly 5 hours of driving, we just wanted to get in, get unpacked, and get hammered!
And then there was the ticket mishap. Ah you ticketmaster... never seem to do ANYTHING right. and yet, that service fee of yours still remains!
So my three freinds all swipe their tickets, get their bracelets, and proceed through to the next check point. I however, the lucky duck i am, didn't get the lovely beep noise upon ticket scan, i got the boop. As in... YOUR TICKETS ED BRO noise.
Yes apparently Ticketmaster FORGOT to send a whole wack of the serial numbers to the event, hence 1 in every 8 tickets pretty much didnt work. GREAT u say! but thats fine, i'm holding the ticket, just give me my bracelet and let me in right?
Wrong.
So after getting the boop, i proceeded over to a tent, where the ticket purchasing happened. waited 25 minutes in line, for the guy at the front to suddenly realise that the abundent amount of people in line were not there to BUY tickets, but instead HAD tickets and just wanted in, no problem!
just call a 1800 number not listed anywhere on your ticket, wait on hold for over 25 minutes, to talk to an american from virginia, to sit on the phone for another 25 minutes, just to confirm that she sent an email to the event saying my ticket was valid, and wait another 15 minutes while they confirm that YES! they did infact get the ticket number, and yes.... that ticket in my hand.... IS A TICKET!

After that, things turned up! we got all our tents located together, cooked up some food, started the brew'skys, lit up the kron, and had a blast. I was able to dodge the sun for over 48 hours, and had a really good time.
Stoneface and Terminal - rocked
Max Graham - rocked
dekoze - good
anabolic frolic - awesome, he spun my first party back in 99'
Saturday morning (newly switched) mainstage - terrible.
Christopher Lawrence - Awesome (woulda been way better at the other stage)

Noteables :
-i've never seen port-a-potty's get THAT bad
-if you have to go number 2....make sure you sneak into staff areas at night time, pull some 007 ninja , and juke your way to a clean port-a-potty, full equipped, no stains, no smell, no wanting to throw up in my own mouth
-worst grassy terrain EVAR lol. ing weeds were sharp, pointy and tall
-corn Beef Hash, ing stellar breakfast
-saturday morning at w.e.m.f. = WAY less sketchy then sunday morning Zone
-i took over 70,000 steps all weekend (i love my phone)
-smoking bowls, standing in a crowd, without a care, or worry in my mind outside under beautiful skys, with amazing weather listening to good music - Priceless
-set times, locations, and the fact that they switched the mainstage tent, baffles me and probably ruined the possible fun output of this weekend by ungodly amounts

imagine if at the Guv12 around midnight they just decided to take Ferry, and Armin put them in the orange room. Not that im downplaying anyones rooms, or genres, its just an unphantomable mistake.

I think thats the end of my rant.
freinds - 100/10
weekend - 9/10 (dispite all the massive flaws)

Your talkin' about these intros? Looks like a normal crowd recation for Andy C.

BTW, how long was the drive from the DVP to the Venue? Was it the time frame Destiny stated or longer?

nice to meet ya bro, and thanks for the tunes ;)

first off, the venue this year was WIKKKKED!! the general consensus is that this was the best wemf ever... and i most definitely agree, it just felt right. The people, djs, the weather and the venue made for such a fantastic atmosphere.

oh and ps...

BOUND BY SOUND REPRESENT! Renegade stage madness! Thanks to all who came to check it out, and all the djs who took time to be with us ;) I think in total we had something like 45 tents who came specifically to camp near the stage…lol what an amazing time.

and the commmentary about Kyau or Albert.

Had an amazing time as expected.

The security lineup for cars to get in was absolutely terrible! Did they really need to spend 10 minutes on each car? Also lame how one line was moving at least twice as fast as the other ones

Hatiras, Stoneface & Terminal, Mark EG & Andy C were all incredible. I had a really hard time getting into Ronski Speed after Mark EG finished. I completely agree that the set times were mangled (don't even get me started on the stage change). It was disappointing that they didn't have any LED lights on the (saturday) 4/4 stage. If they did I probably wouldn't have cared so much. My only regret is missing Max Graham's entire set!! :(

Bound by Sound Stage was off the ing hook. Easily the most consistent stage musically. I originally planned to stay at the 4/4 stage for sunrise but the tunes @ BBS wouldn't let up at all. It was like an outside version of CZ. Congrats to Anas & crew for pulling off (easily) the best renegade stage.

The venue was a really good choice.. even if it was a little far away. The view from the top of the hill was absolutely gorgeous for watching sunrise. It was nice to see more organization as compared to WEMF in Tweed (all the camping was in one area with parking in another and vendors separate from that as well). A huge +1 on the conditions of the portapotties, lol.

Very nice to meet a handful of new TAs ;)

Truly a shame that this is the last wemf ever... Who's going to demf next year?

Me and my friend decided to go there at 5pm on Saturday, from Cambridge lol. Got there at 11pm.

I was super tired by 3am, I guess from the drive up I don't know. I tried to sleep in a tent, which had the drum and bass stage facing it, and that equaled coming in and out of sleep every 2 minutes lol.

Here's two videos I took of Ronski Speed:
