please explain what this lyrical league is that you're speaking of.......like how many words have to ryme in one verse to be considered for this league? lol
overrated is a term i would use to describe some of these douche bag rappers out now but 2Pac earned his piece. number of albums sold speaks for itself. just my 2cents

since when are albums sales a metric of quality? organized konfusion, for example, had a tiny fraction of 2pac's sales but both pharaoh monch and prince po are ten times the artists that 2pac was.
as far lyrics go, i could easily name at least 50 rappers whose flow, creativity, worldplay and content were miles ahead of 2pac. the only good thing he ever did was his verse on "same song" -- he was just lucky enough to get hit off with hot beats. dude was straight garbage.

fair enough.......it's a shame 67 million people wasted money on garbage (in your opinion.)
sure there are mc's out there that are prob more creative and can wordplay better than Pac did but they are far from half as successful as he was.
for me it was the story he told in every song......they all had true meaning. he was a lyrical poet that told it how it was......that's why he was the best imo......and yes, those beats he sung behind were a big part of his success.

There were a bunch I liked before everything turned into financial bragging rights from an already developed path.
Before someone critiques, there's a difference between Wu Tang's C.R.E.A.M. and the stuff from half of today's guys, as opposed to those that never had to overcome anything and just followed the path blazed by earlier guys, had to grow up under.
On that note "All I want is bitches, big booty bitches"

Over the years, I've realized that having an actual hip hop discussion on TA is impossible.
