| thinking about taking one in the next couple of days. maybe 2000 miles? knows. if i do it, i have to do it in about 36 hours. setting aside 8 hours for a nap, i have to average about 70mph for every hour on the road. :/ doesn't seem glamorous. |

| South African coastal trip, from Durban to Cape Town. We took our time though, no hurry. Didn't want to miss too much :) |

| I drove to LA and back (San Diego) on a boring Saturday a few years back. Their freeway has a section where 4 lanes merge into 1, they have Walmarts, and Knotts Berry Farm is closed on rainy days. |

Huh. Not as far as I thought. Or if the stats are right.
About 1800km. But we took a whole week to do it as well, so...
Twas easy, and fun :p |

Nothing terribly long.
The last road trip I took was to go to E3, which was a drive from San Francisco to Los Angeles (so what, 500+ miles)?
If anything, we exceeded the conventional distance, seeing as on the way back, we overshot San Francisco by a good 60 or so miles, winding up in Sacramento.
I dare anyone to put forth a more exciting road trip story than this. :tongue2 |

Does a fly&drive trip count? If so then, 3600km Vancouver-Vancouver last summer, spread out over the course of three weeks. Next year Alaska. I love this kind of trips.
I also did a 4500km trip with friends a couple of years ago, but that included the trip to and from Italy from here. Also three weeks. |

3500 miles - From Ames, IA to San Diego, CA and back (visited Oklahoma City, Grand Canyon, Meteor Crater, Las Vegas (3 days), San Diego (8 days), Las Cruces, White Sands Missile Range, Roswell.
all in all, a 14 day road trip in a minivan. the last night we drove straight from Roswell to Ames...just rotating drivers for 24 hours. was a LOT of fun.
saw snow in Las Vegas, saw the Canyon with about 9" of snow at the top (it was january). had a blast in san diego for a week, even tho it rained every single day.
love road trips. |

Crazy road trip 1:
Got in the car Friday night, drove 950 miles to Orlando, arrived Saturday. On Saturday afternoon we ate large amounts of acid, went to Disney all day, and then did coke all night. At 9 AM Sunday morning I got back in the car and drove 950 miles back home.
Crazy road trip 2:
Got in the car Friday night, drove 950 miles to Tampa and arrived at the home of a guy who was an importer of Columbia's finest export product on Saturday morning. Made a large purchase of this product and then spent all day chilling and sampling the purchase. Saturday night we went to a party that the importer was throwing at a club and left there 3 AM Sunday morning. Got right back in the car and drove 950 miles back home.
Crazy road trip 3:
Drove 1150 miles from home to Miami straight through. I did all the driving with no stops except for gas. Fortunately I had a week on South Beach before I repeated the same thing on the return trip. |
