Well, I just went back and read this entire thread over again...
and nobody has really given me much of a clarification as to how to "label a DJ." The best I was given was... "listen to their previous tracks" which I will do...
BUT, is a particular DJ, a TRANCE DJ, or HOUSE DJ?
umm... I don't know, do you?
ie... Is Masiello/Keryn/Tenaglia/PVD a trance DJ?
I would love it, if someone could tell me, yeah... he/she is... and you would know this if??? you looked it up... at this place... which I am about to tell you... hahaha....
But aside from just listening to the download myself... there is no such thing, huh? |

I am not a trance dj, I consider myself to be a "house" dj but there are many many sub-genres which I dapple in...deep house, tech house, prog house etc. So when someone asks me what kind of music I play I say house and then I try to elaborate on that. Even though I consider myself to be a house dj, I still have been heard playing minimal and techno at times...hope this helps. |

Desyn Masiello would generally be considered a house dj. He plays progressive house, some funkier house as well
Keryn plays different kinds of house and techno music...progressive house, tech house, some electroy stuff, etc...
Danny Tenaglia used to be a house music dj, but the last few years he has started to incorporate a lot more techno in his sets. When he plays extended sets, a lot of his afterhours stuff can get very dark and hard, kind of like you heard from some of the girls at Love on Saturday.
Paul Van Dyk is a trance dj. |

even those distinctions are getting pretty blurry since tons of contemporary trance productions are both rhythmic as well as melodic. |

TA deals with the EDM scene in general. Many of these househeads/minimalists/techno heads who post here loved trance at one point. |
