Caribana Weekend (pg. 2)

This is one of the main reasons im not attending the SOS boat cruise. Not because i don't feel safe, I just couldn't be bothered to drive in that traffic.

If our city can host such a lame and violence prone festival, i find it very difficult to understand why we Torontonians who enjoy EDM cant have something similar to LoveFest.

I dont Know, but that sounds like a good enough reason to complain.

Do you have any statistics to back this up? This event attracts 1,000,000 people! A million people! Obviously there is going to be violence. Even if there is one murder out of a million attending the event, it still gets sensationalized and everyone thinks it's a violent event.

Nevermind the racist undertones (or overtones) of this thread. Trying to predict how many murders there will be isn't funny. Imagine I started a thread, which TA'S parent is going to develop a brain tumour first. Or which TA will die in a car accident first? Is that funny?

You say you want the city to hold something similar to LoveFest (yay, let's copy an idea from somewhere else...woo hoo!) because our city is cool with hosting a violence prone event...well I don't know how the city would feel with promoting an event that would be profitable to drug trafficking because we all know EDM people are drug abusers...

Dude..wheres your stats...dancevalley, love parade...boast a bigger crowd than caribana...1 murder out of a million is still a lost life over stupidity and 1 million tourists should not give grace to a spree of violence..not accpectable

Dance Valley and Love Parade are OTHER CITIES trademarks...why would that work here? At least Caribana is a home grown festival.

I don't care about Caribana either way, but you have to call people out on their stupidity sometimes.

I'll say three shootings, and many many stabbings. Most go unreported though.

I think next year we need to predict.

- How many people will get HIV during pride
- How many people will get shot at Caribana (again)
- How many girls will get HPV during Frosh Week
- How many dirty hippies will get cold sores from sharing bongs at the 4:20 march
- How many people will G out on boat cruises and their pants
- How many people will get Alcohol poisoning during St. Paddys Day

this just in: bad happens

I guess you people don't really keep up with the news either.

You ever notice who the people getting arrested for the violent acts during caribanna are? check the news papers this weekend.... it's the Canadians! lol

s going to happen regardless of whether or not it's Caribanna... and actually last year nothing major happened downtown at all.

For the real pussies, just avoid Yonge St at night and you'll be okay l ol

lol I was waiting for you to post in this thread...

seriously though I don't get why people make such a big deal. The people that get shot are in their own little circles, unless a bystander gets shot thats a different story. The chances of any of you being that bystander is very unlikely...

/stupid thread...

of course i know they occur.. im just saying that that image and character is almost glorified in that scene. just look at the people standing around in the vid, cheering the fight on, i CAN say i've never seen that at the guv. Anytime i've witnessed a fight at an EDM party people are trying to get the out of there. Not standing around waiting for round two.

People do the same thing when a fight happens in any packed dark nightclub.

I've seen fights at large out door rock festivals where people are egging them on... guess everyone should be afraid of ugly white people in black band t-Shirts to, right?
