This was an accident. I really hadn't intended on working on another promo mix this soon, but this past weekend I just had a sudden rush of inspiration to make a set that basically reeked of both jazz and organic instruments/percussion. Myra has been feeding me so much good downtempo/trip hop/chillout stuff the past few months that I really have an ear for those kinds of sounds, and wanted to take that influence and apply it to a set of tech and deep house. So a special thanks goes to Myra for this one as it probably wouldn't have come about without both her influence and her tolerance for how obsessive I become when I begin a musical project.

If you...

- don't like horns
- don't like acoustic guitars
- don't like vocals
- don't like Detroit techno
- have found any of my previous mixes a bore

...this probably isn't for you. If you like all of those things, get the in. This set was not made for people to rave their faces off to - it was made for you to throw on when you're chilling outside having a cocktail, when you're stoned out of your face, or when you've just gotten back from a great party and want something groovy, glitchy, soulful, and druggy to listen to.

Hope you guys enjoy it. :)

the mix title is also my dogs name

lol

That is an awesome dog name. :stongue:

Also, for those of you who made it to the 2 or so hour set I played at Wes and Jeff's over the 4th weekend, if you enjoyed that - you'll enjoy this. Very, very much an idea that I feel kind of got started that night and just took a month to finish :p

Sounds like it's made of gold cast epic unicorn win. Will check it out when I get home.

downloaded, just need to give it a whirl.

will be at concerts in the park tomorrow on the west side of madison, so it may have to be put off until thursday.

i'll throw feedback when I get through it.

so, I lied, I am starting it tonight and I'll have to pick it up some other time...

track playing during 17:40 is awesome. It could be a variety of things (I have some decent headphones on atm (sennheiser)), but I wish that bassline during that track was a little more heart throbbing.

That one is Lemos - Blow It, and I can definitely get wanting that bassline to hit a bit thicker. Unfortunately that was as thumping as I could really crank the low end and not get much distortion. :(

I'm glad you mention that, though - I definitely think that track was one I thought a fair number of people might not like because it's little more than mindless jazz noodling over a repetitive tech house bassline/kick.

:)

I am loving that tune... maybe I am in a repetitive mood... I liked that new Timo Mass track too. :haha:

don't forgot RJT, I just turned 21 this past Sunday, so I plan on making a trip to Chicago for the m-nus fiasco on the 30th (even though that's 18+, doh), but I want to make it down during one of those weekends when multiple TA's are spinning at Vision. I have a feeling I will like small local events more than big name joints.

you need to keep me posted on that. :)

Sadly, for all my efforts in "sucking up" (/cross thread sarcasm), gigs have been in shorter and shorter supply, and are likely to become even fewer as I'm probably about to take a job doing environmental consulting and will be both moving away from Milwaukee and traveling a bit much to pursue too many regular gigs.

Will keep you posted on what nights I'll be out for in the next few weeks though - just not sure of much at the moment.

Thanks again for grabbing this, and happy birthday. :)

So I guess you're too cool to post tracklists any more? :p
