It is pretty interesting. With 83,159, currently registered users (some lost), you would think that we would have more stars than just Jon O'Bir. With the sheer number of people on here that have decks, and produce, and promote and are involved, the percentage of 'makers' should be much higher.
Is this a sign of how hard things are? Does that mean for all the DJ's out there, even fewer actually make it big? It certainly is a competitive business, and maybe these numbers prove it.
Swamper, is it possible for you to give us a figure on the number of users that have posted in the last year? That way we could see how many active users there are, and how many we could discount. |

being a dj/producer is not only expensive (equipment) but is also time consuming and even if you do manage to have time and patience for this hobby not everyone has an ear to pull it off. |

The number of people on here with DJ equipment is almost as common as having a T.V.
Lots of people on here can DJ, but creating a different type of sound than what everyone else has, or doing more than just mixing two random tracks together, not many people have that. |

True.
+1 for you both.
it sums the state of affairs up pretty well anyway..
a) money
b) time and/or patience
c) innate talent
are all factors in the question, imo. |

lol.
2 reasons:
1) too busy posting on TA to actually do something for the music
2) have been involved with too many flame wars that even if they tried putting something out they will get shut down |
