A Rant on Toronto's Scene

Something that has been bother me for a long time, must be brought to attetion to others. I am sure I am not the only one to feel this way......
Toronto has potential to be one of the best EDM Cities in North America but one thing that is deffinatly holding it back is a lack of local talent. Its not to say we dont have talent in the city but our current crop of weekly residents (M&S, Roaches, Junkies, etc) are just holding the city back. I do believe that all of the mention dj's deffinalty have tons of talent its just simply they play way too much to have any passion for the job.
A perfect example of this is manzone and strong. I beleive they are new residents at one of the dt clubs on tuesday, play hotel thursday, til friday, skybar saturday, and potentially zone sundays or boat cruises etc..Not to mention all the other events like random at boom boom, sizzle, wemf etc. They simply play way to much and never bring anything new to the table.
The people who are running the edm scene in Toronto are two caught up in "posing" and "free drink" and the "girls" to ever play good music. Last night at TIL I didnt see Joe behind the decks once. He was just mingling and being social. I have no problem with people who wanna just chill with there friends, meet some girls wtv, but at least give the opportunity of the opening set to someone who actually wants it and would play their heart out to get it.
If we lived in LA and had residents like Aoki who for sure would tear the place apart every week than I would be more reluctant to comment on the scene but until we get some talent that actually wants to play, the toronto scene is gonna need to change. |

| You'd be better off complaining to the City of Toronto if you want to fix what's currently going on with electronic music here. They killed the warehouse scene, pushing nearly everything back into the clubs, making booze and blow the two prevailing drugs and effectively homogenizing the dance music the majority of partiers are exposed to. |
