It's new. It's their way of breaking up the "Electronica" genre.

what the hell do those genres have to do with eachother though?

maybe they have a similar audience, but assuming "indie dance" means nu-rave, they're really quite far apart.

Judging by the samples I listened to on Beatport, I'm not much of a fan of either.

Actually, I think it's all "linear" music that I'm getting tired of. Stuff that seems predictable. Including a lot of rock and pop music as well as most dance music...

Maybe that's why I've started to listening to noise and stuff like Autechre more often.
