My thoery is...
there are three types of parents
1. Don't care and are mean always
2. Care and know what the deal is
3. Too nice
Back then(let's say before 1990) it was mostly #2 where parents hit children due to good reasons to make them a better person and only do it when necessary<-- key word
now its too much 1 and 3. #1 will hit kids uncontrollably due to their stupidity of drunk or ways and make #2 look bad as well. #3 will be afraid to touch their kids and let them get away with murder if possible. #2 is extinct so that means anyone who lay a finger on a kid will get the law smackdown. See teachers. Kids lie about stuff and get away with it. Main reason is kids were given these rights but now some or many are using it for their onw personal benefit and don't realize the consequences.
Brief Summary: Kids given rights but don't use them wisely and parents can't touch kids. |

This is half the problem with the world today...teachers and administrators are basically powerless and now CAS wants in every time a parent corrects their child physically.
|
One of our sister schools in the Bronx got so outta control at the end of the school year that one kid hit a teacher. A riot started and a bunch of teachers and admins got the kicked outta them. They had to put the school on lockdown just because a bunch of 13-year-old have no respect. Half the admins quit after that, because they felt as if they didnt want to risk their safety to work there. (mind you these are 12-13 year olds). kids these days have NO respect!! I myself have been in restraint with a kid many times. |

sounds like a weak system.
sure, she's dumb for calling the cops...and he's dumb for slapping her for banging on a window.
but WHY is the system set up to penalize this parent for an apparent 'one-off' situation, by equating him with someone else who admitted to doing somethign far more serious/harmful? why does the system screw him out of working with kids, just because he slapped his daughter once?
there should be a process to remove the "caution" or whatever is ruining his job prospects.
ridiculous. |

^^ for real. My dad smacking me around was the only thing that made me fearful enough to stop acting like a hoodlum with no respect. I was a bad ass kid til my dad started laying the smack down. :whip: |
Agreed. Fear of my father when I'd done something wrong/inappropriate/etc was what kept me in line growing up. And kids _should_ be kept in line.
Things are out of control these days. There's no fear, and w/o that justified, reasonable fear, there's no respect 1/2 the time it seems, and this is leading to problem children.
