Shouldn't the boat just leave without them? Kinda like a flight or 'normal' boat cruise. |
you can't leave when there's still a line on the dock. |

As i said, it wasn't just 2! MOST of the people didn't show up until AFTER 11:30
anyways, I had a great time... wish i wasn't soo tired so I could enjoy the music a lil more... but i couldnt even move... Great friends made up for it tho..

So if a promoter rents a boat for 5 hours, they could advertise a '5 hour cruise' when in reality the actual time the boat is away from the dock would be far less than that...
|
THe point is that the cruises should be advertised based on how long they're actually, well, out cruising. No one cares what the rental time is.
I still can't believe people fork over $50 for a boat cruise and then complain that virgin festival is so expensive... |

yeah this was the point I was trying to make.... they are being misleading by saying the cruise would be the full time the boat is rented (I dont know if they actually do this btw...) |

If it's the fault of the patrons, leave earlier. Let a bunch of people miss the boat and teach them a lesson. |
BINGO!!!
If you can't make a boat cruise on time, then don't even bother showing up late! Like any major mode of transportation, airplane, bus, train.... - if you're not there on time, you're SOL.
I know it's a cheesy comparison but some people who spend $50 want their money's worth; and to them, they're not just going because it's a nice sunny day to be on a boat and they can pull $50 bills out of their ass every weekend - they're going because they want to hear every possible minute of a great DJ's set. The rest is just the cherry on top of the experience.
Whatever the reason of later departures is...be it promoteres, or late patrons, or the islanders....the fact of the matter remains:
FALSE ADVERTIZING IS LOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW  |

I thought the ticket said until 4? |
I don't know what the ticket said considering I didn't get it until 5 mins before boarding time. I'm just sayin that that's what I was disappointed with... the length of the cruise itself. |

Heard Kaskade played , yes/no? |
Yes he was . Have always avoided him and will never go see him again (even if it is a friends birthday again). One of the worst sets I've heard all year (maybe just not my thing). I do have to say that Kaskade seriously has to get over himself with the awful granny sunglasses, the fist pumping and the whistling at his own songs during his own set.
I still had a lot of fun outside enjoying the weather and hanging out with friends.
Now to get into the leaving late and getting back early issue.
Quoted from the Event Thread
Aboard: The Captain Matthew Flinders
Boarding at: Pier 6 - 207 Queen`s Quay West @ York St.
Boarding begins @ 11am
Departure @ 11:30am
The promoters weren't even set up by 11am and they were still unpacking the gear. That isn't your patrons fault. Many of the DJ's and promoters weren't at the Dock at 11am. The boarding didn't start until after 11:30 and it took almost an hour to board. If it takes you an hour to search and board 500 people either be prepared and start earlier or hire more staff to speed up the process. Instead of trying to blame it on people being late and going to the wrong pier get your own together and leave those people who are too stupid to read their tickets behind. Leaving behind 100 people who are late and having 400 happy people is far better in my opinion and sooner or later the 100 people will learn to be on time. |

The ticket usually states boarding half an hour early to get people out as lateness is human nature and always a given.
Kaskade was whistling to the crowd, not himself. And fyi is a really nice guy. He was grateful to be there.
Glad you had fun with your friends...Sometimes music doesn't have to be the focus. Right? Also, there were 7 other djs playing completely different music downstairs.
The promoters have no control over the boat...We all answer to the captain. It's better to be safe than in a hurry. It is for the protection of everyone.

This was my first Boat Cruise party and I have to say I had an amazing time! I thought Kaskade played a pretty good set. He played a few tracks I hadn't heard in ages and had Tara and I dancing pretty good :)
Jon Jon, it was great hearing you play again after all this time :) Just like always you had me dancing my butt off, despite it being 100 degrees in there...you even had me dancing in the doorway, lol! ;)
And finally Jeff, good job my friend! It was the first time hearing you play and I was really impressed...too bad you had to shut it down when you did.
Sasha thank you again for convincing me to come, I was so glad I did *hug* |

I'm not mad as I did have a great time. Jon was great downstairs but I don't go on a boat cruise to be inside.
Lateness is a human trait is a crock of . If I tried that with my bosses or my clients or my staff I wouldn't have a job. Posting times earlier to try and trick people to get there at a certain time is stupid (we aren't 10 years old) and it actually has the oposite effect. It leads to people not even trying to be on time since they never leave on time. I would love to see a promoter have the balls to board and leave the dock at the time posted and make those people who are inconsiderate of the rest of us suffer instead of it being the other way around. That would probably backfire on some of the people selling tickets since they would probably be stuck holding tickets for people who are late without being paid.
Anyway I will go on other cruises but I'm not counting on anything changing. |
