When Democrats first took control of Congress, its approval rating sat at 15%, which explained quite a bit about the electoral victory Democrats achieved. They managed to push it up to 26% after four monthsin charge, but it has gone downhill ever since May 2007. People used to joke about it hitting single digits, but the day has finally arrived according to a July 9th Rassmussen pole under the leadership of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. They make Bush's approval rating look solid!

From Michelle's speech tonight:

quote:
And as our friendship grew, and I learned more about Barack, he introduced me to the work he'd done when he first moved to Chicago after college. Instead of heading to Wall Street, Barack had gone to work in neighborhoods devastated when steel plants shut down, and jobs dried up. And he'd been invited back to speak to people from those neighborhoods about how to rebuild their community.

The people gathered together that day were ordinary folks doing the best they could to build a good life. They were parents living paycheck to paycheck; grandparents trying to get by on a fixed income; men frustrated that they couldn't support their families after their jobs disappeared. Those folks weren't asking for a handout or a shortcut. They were ready to work - they wanted to contribute. They believed - like you and I believe - that America should be a place where you can make it if you try.

Barack stood up that day, and spoke words that have stayed with me ever since. He talked about "The world as it is" and "The world as it should be." And he said that all too often, we accept the distance between the two, and settle for the world as it is - even when it doesn't reflect our values and aspirations. But he reminded us that we know what our world should look like. We know what fairness and justice and opportunity look like. And he urged us to believe in ourselves - to find the strength within ourselves to strive for the world as it should be. And isn't that the great American story?

It's the story of men and women gathered in churches and union halls, in town squares and high school gyms - people who stood up and marched and risked everything they had - refusing to settle, determined to mold our future into the shape of our ideals.

I think that sums it up quite nicely.

You people don't even realize how good you have it. I know we have problems, but they aren't as ing depressingly bleak as the Democrats make them out to be. But you soak it up like a sponge and let the paranoid fear of armageddon and anarchy at any minute cause you to think it's all true. I'm so sick of the constant doom and gloom negative pessimism and guilt that we are ruining everything and need to atone for our sins (by shelling out money to these causes of course). 16 years ago Al Gore said we had 10 years left. He's saying the same thing now. Relatively speaking, our lifetime is just a grain of sand from all the beaches in the world. ing chill out and enjoy yourself.

I have it pretty good, thats entirely true, I just actually care about the plight of other people.

You jump on Obama for nothing other than wanting a better future for his children and then you call me the hypocrite. You also call me presumptuous and then go on to make blanket statements about me. Your insinuation that all Democrats live on handouts and that anyone who loses their job does so because they "relied on the government" is naive and shows how out of touch with reality you really are. Don't act like your own success is a barometer for how everyone's experience in this country has been. That's great that you're grateful for your own opportunities. Open up your eyes and look around you. This country has turned a corner in the wrong direction (by the way - 81% of Americans agree with me --

Obviously not everyone is so privileged as you.

I can find polls to coincide with the viewpoints I want to show as well.

I jump on Obama because I think he's bad for America, plain and simple. The more we learn about him, the shadier he gets with his personal associations, complete reversals on things he's promised or said he would or would not do, getting caught in lies, hypocracies, etc., and he is never ever held accountable because the media so desperately wants to be a part of history that they let it all slide (please don't make me dig up examples of everything). His whole thing was that he claimed to be a new type of politician never before seen in Washington... but it's becoming more and more clear that he's just like all the rest. His lofty speeches mesmerize people, but there's no substance behind it, and a very serious lack of experience that worries the out of me. It's not because he "wants a better future" for his kids... who doesn't want that? It's because of his radical far left policies, desire to grow government, and his voting record (and lack of) that make me want him to lose.

ANd I didn't say "all democrats" live on handouts, I said "like so many do." Which is true... those who want the handouts and rely on the government are perpetual democrat voters, becuause that's their meal ticket and that's how the democrats get those votes; they want people to rely on them so they can stay in power. I also did not say that I think people who lose their job do so because they rely on govt... I'm trying to illustrate the point that by refusing handouts, and being self sufficient, I give myself a better opportunity to be successful and pass that on to my kids. You know, the whole give a man a fish/teach a man how to fish thing.
I'm not using my own success as a barometer to say anything less is failure... I'm just saying if I can do it, anyone can, and people should find ways to be the masters of their own destiny instead of wait with fingers crossed for somoeone to make their destiny for them. It's easier to go the Democrat way in my opinion, and I don't advocate that.

I’m so glad to hear that Michelle O now “loves” this “downright mean” country that she was never proud of until this year (when it began throwing hundreds of millions of dollars at her hubby, and fainting at his feet). Hypocrisy.

You'd have to be a retard or a bible thumper to take those videos seriously. If you can't understand the difference in rhetoric between the primary races and what is happening now then you need to do some reading. And if you make your voting decision based on morality you need to STFU.
