Down the spiral he goes....

quote:
OBAMA: Everybody's watching what's going on in Beijing right now in the Olympics. Think about the amount of money that China has spent on infrastructure. Their ports, their train systems, their airports are all vastly superior to us now, which means if you're a corporation deciding where to do business, you're starting to think Beijing looks like a pretty good option.

Yeah, they don't have any environmentalists to deal with! They don't have any big government regulations. They can put up cheap buildings. They can put up all kinds of cheap eye candy infrastructure. But this guy is salivating over a totalitarian system and the power that the Chinese government has, and he is using that to say they are a better country than the United States. This is breathtakingly politically stupid. There are just certain things that you're not going to be able to pass off to people. China, a better place to live than the United States? Well, maybe if you don't mind pollution controls that don't exist. Maybe if you don't care that people are employed at slave labor wages. And maybe, if you don't care that construction standards in the countryside are so shoddy that they allow of collapse of thousands of buildings, including schools, so that when an earthquake hits it kills tens of thousands of people....if that stuff just doesn't bother you, then I guess maybe China does look pretty good to you.

The reason that the government can afford all of this spending is that they control the means of production and the wealth of the nation. They can confiscate what they want at will and spend it where they like. And in Beijing, they spent it where the cameras would be pointed. This guy got all of his information from watching the olympics.

quote:
The Chinese infrastructure that so enthralls Obama remains decades behind that of the US. What infrastructure China manages to build, however, gets its energy from oil and coal, not from wind and solar. China has become the highest emissions nation in the world and shows no sign of slowing itself down over concerns about anthropogenic climate change. In fact, the air in Beijing is so bad that outdoor Olympics events almost had to be moved.
Meanwhile, the regime where Obama thinks the world would love to do business maintains itself through brutal oppression. China blocked access to the Internet for international journalists despite promising to allow full access to reporters for the Games. They arrested reporters covering peaceful protests. And these are the actions they took while trying to make themselves look good.
If Obama wants us to build up American infrastructure, he can start by ending the flow of American wealth overseas for energy. Create hundreds of thousands of jobs by building the American energy infrastructure through drilling in the OCS, ANWR, and interior shale formations. Lower capital-gains tax rates to encourage more investment and generate more revenues (and jobs). America needs a President who can see past the facades.

Obama is right. Multinationals are all salivating over the Chinese market. Where is he wrong?

This guy obviously pays no attention to the markets. Some Republican he is.

BTW, do you know where China got all of its money to invest in these things. Yes, that's right, interest payments on loans to the United States.

Really scraping the bottom of the barrel on this one I'm afraid.

Just keeping everyone aprised of Obama's love of government power and urge to talk down the U.S... oh, and make stupid comments that don't hold water. Where does Obama think huge corporations like Nike and Apple already are manufacturing their ? And I'm a conservative first, not necessarily a Republican. Although, I will be voting Republican in Nov.

Obama's love of government? Remind me who is bailing out corporations on Wall Street with tax payer money, spending more dollars on the military than all countries in the world combined, and running the highest governmental deficit in the history of this country (both Rep and Dem)...

I'm waiting eagerly for your answer...;)

Obama would make a great lawyer ... but a bad politician. It seems.

Our infrastructure is going to faster than you can say the word, and that is a fact.

You are taking the point of view of the GOP. The party of small government, low taxes, a "humble foreign policy" <--Remember that?, this is the party which abandons its own age old principles. But still, it's the Dems are are the big bad evil government enlargers, etc. etc. Am I wrong? The Dems didn't take our government debt from $5 trillion to $9 trillion. The Dems did not initiate the largest increase in defense spending since world war II. So much for the party of small government...

We've already been over this. I am just as disgusted with the GOP as you are with how they've abandoned their conservative principles. As big as the GOP made it now, which is out of hand, the Dems still want to make it bigger than that... that can't excite you if what the GOP did sickens you
