man djokovic was really pissed at roddick. i guess he took roddick's pregame words at a certain level, and showed some agression tonight. hah. |

seriously, i was unhappy with their response. he could have been a complete jerk about it but he wasn't. he said he didn't appreciate the comments, which is understandable.
i do admit to laughing when roddick made those comments the other night but he should also know a bit better how to speak. |

everyone's reaction was well-founded.
roddick always has biting sarcasm in his press conferences and it's unfortunate novak didn't catch that. roddick was right that, as novak dished it to players last year with his impressions, novak should also be able to take some needling from other players. novak apologized during his press conference last night for his on-court interview. it'll be interesting to see what happens during the semi. it'll probably be a pro-roger crowd. |

From ESPN:
A reporter was explaining that the Serbian player had complained of an injured right ankle when Roddick cut him off, sparking this charming exchange:
Roddick: Isn't it both of them? And a back and a hip?
Reporter: And when he said there are too many to count …
Roddick: And a cramp.
Reporter: Do you get a sense right now that he is …
Roddick: Bird flu.
Reporter: A lot of things. Beijing hangover.
Roddick: Yeah.
Reporter: He's got a pretty long list of illness.
Roddick: Anthrax. SARS. Common cough and cold.
And although severe acute respiratory syndrome might be a little over the top -- to say nothing of anthrax -- Roddick's point was that Djokovic tends to the dramatic with respect to his physical ailments.
"If it's there, it's there," Roddick said. "There's just a lot. You know, he's either quick to call the trainer or he's the most courageous guy of all time. I think it's up for you guys to decide." |
