ok, so i managed to find a few brain cells stuck to the bottom of one of my shoes after unpacking and gave them a rest this weekend and now i think i can review my clubbing experience in ibiza. i don't have pics yet, sorry, gotta upload, go through them, etc and besides, i got very few pics at the clubs since they take them from you when you enter so my words will have to be enough for now.

8/10 sunday: We Love @ Space with Jeff Mills opening, then Nic Fanciulli and closing the main room Chemical Brothers. Saw Paul Woolford close out the terrace. imo, space has the best set up of any of the clubs, very open, huge dance floor, tons of bars and seating, tons of bathrooms, amazing light production, multiple rooms, very nice outdoor area, insane sound system, love the dj booth, close enough so you can watch the dj and they can feed off the crowd, air conditioned until they pack too many people in there, then it really doesn't matter, lol!!! Nic spun one of the best sets i've ever seen him spin, it was great, he totally stepped up his game this night. never seen the chemical brothers, they took no prisoners for 3 hours, i have never sweated so much from dancing and of course the place being beyond over packed, those guys haven't been to ibiza in 4 years so everyone on the island was there, it felt like.
i loved the fact that during nic's set all of a sudden i see the entire crowd drop down to a crouch, without a word or a motion, just bam, everyone in sync, then the mix drops and the place explodes and everyone jumps up and screams and goes crazy while the kryo cools us off!!! it was so amazing, hard to describe the feeling, a must experience if you can.
paul closed out the terrace nicely, not sure where i got my last bit of energy from after chemical brothers but i found it and went until they cut on the lights.

8/11 Monday: Cocoon @ Amnesia with Frank Lorber, Alter Ego and Sven Vath in the main room and Loco Dice and Luciano on the terrace/side room. This club was absolutely beautiful, the dancers were out of control, insanely great and wonderful to watch, i loved the theme of space invaders and they put on a great show with lazer guns, high beams shooting, the works!!!! my only grip about this club is the flow from one room to the next is worse than the 405 at 4 pm on a friday after a 20 car pile up!!!! it was almost scary at times how you seriously couldn't move!! and the dj booth in the main room, a little too high, but that's me, i like to watch the dj mix. luciano and loco dice were laying it down nice on the terrace but sven had me at the first track and kept me there until the end!!!!! he was by far my favorite set of the trip, just tore it up dropping vinyl and killing us track after track!!!! serious techno done flawlessly and the mad energy he has, kinda reminded me of burridge a bit with his antics.

8/12 Tuesday: Back to Space for Carl Cox and Friends which included Tom Pookes and Christian Smith. Both openers did a very good job and played some great tracks, as we all know, i'm not the best at id-ing so sorry. anyways, techno was pouring through our veins and coming out as sweat in a good way!!!! once carl got on it was over, he came out with both fist swinging and killed us!!! first proper set i've ever seen by him and man i just loved it!!!! and does he love to have fun and dance and just feeds off the crowd and vice versa!!! such a happy, gentle soul in a big scary package. space had a guy come out in a tron like outfit on stilts all lit up with blue and white lights, walk in the middle of the crowd, and set off his lazer guns which had to of been some type of sparklers/fireworks, it was insane!!!!!!

8/13 Wednesday: Meganite at Privilege with Mauro Picotto, Secret Cinema, Marco Carolo in the main room and Joel Mull and Adam Beyer in the side room. Mauro layed down a nice opening techno set, nothing too insane, i guess i was comparing too much with the last 2 nights of insane techno that i had heard to i was like, ehh, but still good and fun and danced. i loved the dj booth over the pool and watching drunk boys falling in to it, lol!!!! i liked the room i had to dance this night, the place was full but not stupid packed like the last 3 nights i had experienced. beautiful club with the trees and plants and the openess of it. the outside area was way cool and the fact that they have a nitrous gas hut selling them there was just perfect  Once they opened the side room though and beyer and mull came on it was very hard to get me back in the main room. i kept going back in to dance to carolo but beyer and mull had me like they had me at SSFD in miami!!!! they just work so flawlessly together, like a well oiled machine, i'm not sure i've seen any other duo's do that as well as they have. i loved the big tree in the side room. i hated that the sound bled into each other though from the 2 rooms and they kept the sound down too low in the main room. carolo dropped that track that goes, "cameras ready prepare to flash" i love that track, then i walked into the side room and beyer dropped a different version of it like 5 minutes later, lol!!! oh well, only 2 times i heard that track.

8/14 Thursday: Be @ Space for Danny Teneglia and Wally Lopez. This was my least favorite night of music but the production they put on was so fantastic that i forgave the music a little. the opener was ok, nothing spectacular and then danny came on and of course he opened with about an hour of gay house, which i expected so i was like cool, just have fun and then he goes into some deep dark tribal which was great and i thought, now this is great, till the end he's just gonna get nastier and nastier, boy was i wrong!!! he fckin switched to vocal trance, and i mean some fluffy vocal trance :whip: toally killed it for me. just didn't go with the rest of his set, he spun about 4 hours so i think maybe he tried to cram too much sound into a short period of time. anyways, the stage production was insane though, hot dancers, S and M style show, all out sex inspired, blow up dolls with dancers doing unmentionable things to them, they threw a huge canvas out over the crowd and the whole crowd took it and rolled it all the way back to the back and for about 10 minutes we were all dancing under this huge canvas and jumping up in down, again, the crowd acting in unison with each other without even a word of signal, it was crazy and then the kryo came rushing down again. then after they got that put aways they passed out sparklers to the whole crowd and lit them and shined red lights over the crowd, it was really a very beautiful sight!!! wish i could taken pictures :whip: when we got back to our hotel, my routine was always, shower the club off then head down to eat breakfast before going to sleep. well sitting there in kind of a fog, i see these 3 guys walk in out of the corner of my eye and i look over and who else, the above and beyond boys, lol so we talked to them and they sat down at the table next to us and we chatted until it was time for sleep. funny, funny guys and so very friendly!

8/15 Friday: Pacha for Sander Kleinenberg and Trentemoller. i liked pacha the least of all the clubs. too much like clubbing in vegas with all the VIP bull and a postage size dance floor and the VIP mentality. and we had a table. the dj booth looks like it was an after thought, too many people standing around not in to the music, i don't know, it was just bleh. we ate there though and the food was great!!!! i spoke to sander for a minute afterwards. trent threw down some sick as tracks though!!!! i had only seen him live last year when he came to LA so it was nice to see the other side of him. sander definitely played differently in ibiza, although he did drop man with a red face by mark knight, he was just different. could be too that i was way too drunk!!!!! was helping my friend rob finish off the bottle of goose b/c his girl cathy and my friend leah slowed way down so i felt it was my duty, i mean you know, it's just alcohol abuse to leave some left in a bottle ;)

8/16 saturday: no clubs but went to Bambuddah Grove, and thank you Bas, it was amazing, everything about that resturant was perfect!!!! then went and milled around ibiza town by the port and leah and i discovered all kinds of cool things. love the street cafes and the sangria and people just eating dinner at midnight and the sights and the sounds and the different languages all around you!!! the breeze from the mediterranian, it was almost surreal!!! and my God the gelato which we had just about everyday!!! yum and yum!!!

8/17 Sunday: back to Space for We love for Danny Howells, Steve Lawler and Paul Woolford. well, as most of you know, i was like a kid waiting for christmas for this night to arrive, we all know how i feel about lawler and to see him on space terrace where he is legendary, made a name for himself, calls it home, well, there really are no words for how excited i was!!!! danny laid down a nice fun house set for steve but i was just patiently waiting for steve to take the decks but i did enjoy dancing to danny's set!!! talked to steve for a bit before he went on, got to stand pretty close to watch him mix, as i love to do, my favorite dj to watch mix, danced the short 2 hours he spun, met his dad, nephew, girlfriend, partied with them until they turned the lights on and it was time to go. steve's set was great, nothing insane but just the fact that i was dancing to his set on the terrace in ibiza was enough magic for me to last a while. funny, as he was about to get on the decks he walks over and says, hope i don't disappoint you, lol, um yeah, could that happen???? well maybe, but i didn't think it possible that night!!! and he didn't, never does. some sets are better than others, nothing beats his miami set 2 years ago at twilo for me yet but i find magic somewhere in the tracks he lays down and the flawless mixing that he effortlessly puts forth each time i see him!!! paul closed it out even better than the week before and i went home with a huge smile on my face, still not believing my good fortune to have experienced what i had just experienced.

8/18 Monday: DC10 Re-opening party of Circoloco!!!!!!!!! nice way to finish me off, i mean the trip. it was clive henry in the main room and luciano in the side room. wtf, did i have it in me???? pu-lease!!! you people know i did!!! got there at 4:30 pm and i'm glad we got there early b/c we were able to mill around and check out every inch of this incredible club!!!! best vibe overall and the best crowd by far!!!! felt like a giant, better SSFD. people dressed in crazy costumes, they were there for the love of the music and nothing else, sincere, polite, mad energy sweaty humans radiating this intense feeling that is still now giving me chills as i type this, really too special to put into words, it's what i had invisioned the clubs atmosphere to be in all the ibiza clubs. none came close to DC10, now i understand what others were talking about when i was telling them that i was going to ibiza and they just simply stated, you must, MUST, attend circoloco at DC10, if you do nothing else, do that!!!! and to know that it will probably end with this season, never to open again due to the spanish government and their new policies and laws and whatnot, it is truly a shame. i am only happy that i got to experience it before it's end. clive was great, felt a lot like a burridge set. the side room was so insanely packed that you couldn't even move in there, got dangerous at times so i only got a small piece of luciano. clive got most of me. met the coolest person on my trip this day, ben from england, wish they all coulda been like him.

and with that, it was time to leave, leah and i could't leave without going to the port once more to drink a couple liters of sangria and re-hash the time we had spent there, savoring the last few moments by the water, sad to be leaving but knowing how fortunate we were to have done and seen what we set out to experience. by 3 am it was back to the room to shower, pack and head to the airport. i was sad to be leaving but satiated with all that i had done. now that i'm rested and going back over this for you guys, it makes me a bit sad to not be there, i mean, this time last week i was at DC10 and the week before that, Cocoon at amnesia. it's a feeling, it's hard to shake, i don't want to, it definitely infected me for the better. i love this music and this just tattooed it on me good. my only gripe was the handsy, inappropriate, rude italian men at the clubs. i have never had to play defense so much in my life nor get so inappropriately touched by so many men!!! :whip: by the end of my stay i had become very rude myself to these pigs and it was frustrating to have to deal with while i was trying to dance and enjoy the music. now the spanish and english men, well, that's a story for another time, and for much of it, i'll just keep it in my mind, where i can enjoy for myself ;)

thank you for letting me share my experience with you all and taking the time to read this novel, lol!!! yeah, we all know i can ramble. so that was it, i mean, there was more but i just wanted to really review the music and the clubs. the beaches, the food, the people, there is so much, i could go on and on. just go, if you get a chance, go.

peace

aww yes, i did, totally forgot that one, was just concentrating on the evenings. we also made it to cafe del mar to watch the sunset, both perfectly amazing for different reasons! they kept the music low at bora bora due to the new rules/laws but it was still fun and of course watching the sunset, everyone coming out, making it an event, applauding what nature gives us everyday and the people giving it proper respect was just, well, almost spiritual.

and no kirk, the only americans we even met in ibiza were 2 gay guys and that was it. not many americans there this summer, everyone we met stated that we were one of the few americans they have met all summer long. hmmm, could have something to do with the shape of our economy??? lol, i know i couldn't afford it but i did it anyways, the experience was worth well more than what i spent!!!
