so what are you doing here then? ;)

nice error bars on the global temperature graph

#2
hooray for telling people to compare graphs with different scales

#3
so volcanoes don't put out a lot of co2. but they put out a lot of other like sulphur dioxide, and not just when they are actively erupting lava. effects on the global temperature from volcanoes have been both historically documented and experienced first hand in the last couple of decades

#4
co2 increased to 382 ppm. i think thats still less than %1 in the atmosphere? water vapour is the worst greenhouse gas in the atmosphere. we better stop those green cars that emit water vapour then!!

nobody denies the climate is changing but i think there can still be debate on weather (aha) the increases in recorded co2 and temperatures can be attributed solely to humans

what are you talking about? my position is that we should listen to the scientists. that's not the same thing as saying 'global warming is happening coz i say so'.

unfortunately for them, it appears (if UK and US jurisprudence hasn't deviated to much) that the law applies on for criminal acts, and they may still be liable in a civil case.

well maybe it's time for people (like you) to wake up and start actually thinking about this issue and how we can slow it down or solve it. This could be the greatest disaster our race has ever faced and people of your ilk believe that invading Iraq and drilling for more domestic oil is more important.

I don't know about a precedent, but that is a stupid ruling.

what are you talking about? It "could be" the greatest disaster, or it could not be. We don't know. My point is that I think it's wrong that people were set free after doing $70,000 worth of damage because a jury thought they were justified in the name of global warming. I think it will motivate more people to things up and use this as an example/excuse to weasel out of responsibility for their actions. What if some granola smashed your car and said they did it because it was emitting too much carbon, and were justified in doing so because they were protecting the innocent? Would you be like, "Well, he does have a point... he IS hooking up mother earth."

And don't paint me with that "people of your ilk" bull like I had a hard-on to invade a country to drill for its oil. When the did I ever say something like that? If it were up to me, we would get our own ing oil here and not go to Iraq... but since we are there, I want us to at least finish the job and show responsibility to clean up the mess we made, then come back. Are you drunk again man?

Edit: hell yeah I'm for getting our own oil. I hate financing other oil rich governments that hate us.

You don't think that Obama's sixteen month withdrawal plan will work? He wants to direct more American troops to the real battlefield in Afghanistan, where the "coalition of the willing" should have remained in full force to destroy the Taliban and Al Quaida. Instead they put five times the effort into Iraq. By the way, Canadians have lost almost 100 guys fighting in the most violent regions of Afghanistan. You could at least say thanks for the help, since we are only one of two nations (along with the British) who are willing to take significant casualties in battle there. But nobody cares what Canadians think right?

I also support more domestic drilling to a point. Canada has a lot of oil in Alberta, off Newfoundland and in the Arctic. But more action should be taken on investigating alternative energy sources and McCain's record clearly indicates that he is against such ventures. Why else would he block tax breaks for wind and solar power, but reward the oil and energy sectors?

Republicans (and the Conservative Party here) do not take this issue seriously enough at all because it poses too much "threat" to the corporations that they largely represent.
