| Ok, After all of this talk about Eminem saying Whatever about moby and techno, I personally think Moby is New Age. He doesnt sound like techno at all, Even though he is in the techno part of any mainstream record store. I just dont see how he is techno.. ANyone want to give their opinions? His music is to mellow and smooth to be techno.. |

hmm i dont think so i think one of the best things about moby is his unique style i hate catogrising things even trance but you have too i guess to get people to understand it but i think mobys music truly is his own...
if anything id say hes predominantly house with some other electronic influences but i dunno hes definitly very unique

| Moby used to create techno/trance music but converted to the stuff he does now. Currently I wouldn't say he's techno but his earlier stuff yes. |

| I've never heard a Moby track that was pure techno (as in the actual genre), altho I haven't heard a lot of his older stuff which was pretty experimental and all over the place (so I hear)... But I imagine that when Eminem used the word "techno" he meant all electronic music in general and not the actual genre. You do realize that techno is a seperate genre of it's own within electronica, right? Moby is definately Electronica tho, which is the proper word for all electronic music, since his music is electronically produced and sequenced... |

Have any of Moby's albums? That would quickly answer your question. They're all over the place. From hardcore to ambient, from punk to pop, from trance to breaks.
I would categorize his latest single as 'pop', but his new record is quite ambient. Very chill.
He has produced techno though, in the technical sense, as it existed in the mid-90s. |

electronica ... such a horrible and pretentious word. lol, i wouldn't be surprised if the word was created by some money hungry record label trying to make it sound cooler.
it all started under the umbrella of TECHNO!
