if you haven't booked yet, i recommend the hotel nikko in downtown. it's my personal favorite in the city. rates are cheap, the reception desk doesn't trip off a gang of people heading up to one room, rooms are completely soundproofed from the hallway, suites are cush and filled with hella pillows, art, ipod player, plasma tv, the lobby has huge white marble lounges with crazy art everywhere, and the upper floor views of the city are out of control on boomers. some legendary weekends have been spent there

i believe it. when kontrol & auralism crowds get together on a big night, the goes off! travellers are often taken by how strong the local tech/techno scene is. so many established promoters with mad skills: listed, kontrol, auralism, dirtybird, black market, blasthaus, bodyheat, satellite, phonic, blipswitch, killswitch, pacific sound, fiction, bang the box, etc. it NEVER ends... :toothless |

I personally always try to bid on a room on priceline. I have done with with little failure for years now and the room I usually get is 40-50% off the cheapest published rate you find on the internet.
I got a Courtyard Marriott room last weekend for $65!
But this getting hotels in other cities. Actually never have tried in SF!
Rich, Nikko at $200+/night does not equal cheap. Sorry lol |

80 a night is fine with me, esp since its getting split by 2 people and then a few friends are coming in for a night as well.

Priceline works great for San Francisco. I paid around $90/night for the Hilton on O'Farrell during the 2006 Lovefest. This year it is up to $110/night - for the Hilton again. These bids were for 4 star rating, so if you choose a 2 or 3 star rating the prices will be lower. |
