It's still fashionable, so yes it still does have to do with its original meaning. |

125? I don't think theres any trance at 125bpm:eyespop:
Check out cosmic baby-thinking about myself. Thats got lots of 130bpm stuff. I dunno about anything else, wouldn't mind some recomendations myself.
While we're on the subject of classic trance... which nomad (discogs link cos theres like 13 of them) did way out west? I absolutely love that song, the beautiful flute and classic trance hi hat pattern and the sadness. |

Back in the beginning a lot of trance was down around 120 BPM... you might come across statements from the early nineties about this tempo reflecting the beating of the heart in the womb and other such things.
If you're looking for low-BPM trance today a good place to start is Ultimae... most think of them as no more than a chill out label but they've released a bunch of trance (and not just EarthShine, which is far more upbeat). The Asura, Aes Dana, Cell, Solar Fields, and H.U.V.A Network projects all have some great releases that pump away around 120 BPM. Androcell AKA Distant System has been moving into this territory as well; check out his Tripswitch Remix (118 BPM) or the song Outer Rim.
Of course, when you turn to the techno world you will find all sorts of great hypnotizing music in the 120 to 130 BPM range. Gui Boratto, Robert Babicz, Âme, Evan Marc, Solead, Minilogue, Extrawelt, Antix/Fiord, and the aforementioned James Holden are just a few names to investigate. |

This is not techno though. Its early-mid 00s holdenesque progressive house (a style that inspired other musicians of that era e.g. Nathan Fake, Petter, Ozgur Can, Kosmas Epsilon etc.).

And what does the original meaning of "house" has to do with fashion? |

Well I heard house was called house because its "in house" music. Anyway, I thought beginning trance was actually 130 bpm and it jumped about 10 to maybe 15 bpm. 120 is very slow. |

By that definition, this is trance:
Shackleton - Blood On My Hands (Ricardo Villalobos' Apocalypso Now Mix)
But of course, it's not really.

Nope, it's because it was first played in warehouses. In Chicago, if I'm not mistaken. |
