Each country in europe has different % values depending on the type of product/service you are supplying (trust me i work with this ball); so a blanket charge of 14.5% VAT smells like ball to me. |
i know, that's why i think it's bull as it doesn't seem to based on anything. :nervous: |

If the government funded mp3 clean up police come raiding at a gig i am playing, with legal downloads, supported by beatport bills that show i've paid VAT on the tunes i am playing, I really hope i am within my rights to go tell them all to right off.

i couldn't do that here. you have to pay some stupid fee if you want to play tunes off your computer (or self burnt CD-Rs) here.
go world! everything gets more and more ed up! :whip: |

Technically its the same here. DJs are just easy targets, easier to police and write up reports about how the fight against illegal downloading is working... when in reality they are no closer to policing the public at large than they were 10 years ago. |

the fee has nothing to do with illegal downloads though. you have to pay it if you want to play music you've bought as downloads. you can't play illegally obtained files no matter what (afaik). |

| just spent a bit over 30€ on djdownload, just because i'm so pissed off at beatport. and i'm gonna spend a lot more there as i have a ton of tracks i want to buy (i don't like downloading 150 tracks at once). |

| I was using Beatport less and less the last couple of months, but I'm only using djdownload and kompakt-mp3.net from now on. |

| This really is a disgrace, the lack of communication is terrible, you get a little * by your subtotal then an obscene amount whacked on in 'tax'. There's not even an explanation for it. |

that is wank i imagine most of the uk will pack them in they seem to have an habit of not telling you about things like this they started charging for using a debit card the first i knew about it is when i looked at my statement i bet most people dont have a clue. |
i noticed. they charge you a few cents for a foreign transaction fee whenever you use a debit card. if i use paypal i don't get charged any extra fees.... |
