i never said it wasn't ableton... most of the time it was that, or cddjs. i see primarily trance djs but do see the likes of carl cox, sasha, digweed, and others and i personally have never seen any trance dj (outside of pvd as i mentioned before) or the others mentioned use control vinyl/cd. i've personally only seen them use cddjs, vinyl, or ableton.

personally i was really excited when serato came out. for me it dramatically reduced my spending on vinyl and allowed me to instantly get the gratification of downloading an mp3 from beatport, etc and immediately be able to play it through my setup. no longer did i need to place the order, make payment, and wait for shipping and hope the records weren't damaged.

i still love vinyl though and still collect a few records here and there. i think the likes of serato, traktor, live, etc have made djing more interesting too, as demonstrated by hawtin.

Well yeah, if you only see those DJs, I can see why you'd get the impression..

I could give a less about any of the names you mentioned...

Good for you. Really, we all care Clovis. :)

As an aside, I thought you loved Sasha?
elFreak
he used to love dj sammy too, but he grew out of it like normal people.

I did until he decided to get lazy. I still respect him, but I don't care for anything he does anymore. Mostly the same with Digweed. They're big room DJs who play big room music fairly well, but that isn't difficult.

Traktor 3 has 4 deck capability whereas I don't believe Serato does (could be wrong). The meat of Traktor is in it's soundcard, totally trumps Serato's in sound quality. Traktor is a bit more of a memory hog though, I've had issues with skipping during tracks...luckily it has yet to happen at a gig :p
