if both were the same price, would you rather buy the xone xd 53 or the 7506? |
Tried the Xone XD 53's today for the first time..
Honestly, i hated them! They feel loose around the ears. The cups aren't really that comfortable. The isolation compared to my HD25's was awful.
Granted i might have to let them run in a little while but initial impressions were far from spectacular.
It was nice gaining some reassurance that the HD25's i have are a great set of cans. |

That huge headphone thread
I skimmed every single page to see if anyone has tried/mentioned the AKG 181's, but to no avail. So, anyone got em or have anything to say about em?

They're , that's why no one has mentioned them.
I have both the Sony V6s and the HD25s; I prefer the HD25s for DJing because the Sonys are very heavy and don't swivel at all, but they are also useful in louder environments when you're looking for better sound isolation.
It should be noted that despite their reputation, the bass response on HD25s is actually quite poor, though the overall sound quality is decent. |

Thanks for the response, surprised that they'd be total . I say this because I've seen other AKG models that TA's have kudo'd... and this being an actual 'DJ line' of headphones from AKG I was expecting some good news.
I want to grab the Ultrasone DJ1's, but the logos on the cups are brutal. I shouldn't judge looks I know, but that DJ1 logo:nervous:
EDIT:
it, getting the DJ1 Pro's. |

Meh.
It all comes down to the standards of the company.
Behringer make a lot of mixers, almost complete copies of Pioneer's gear in layout and features, but their products are terrible.
I don't know a lot about AKG products, but I know they will never be as good as Sony, Sennheiser or Pioneer. |

| My HD-280 pros are still ticking after 4 years of moving, travelling, loaning them out, etc. Love them. Might get some 7506s though when I get new cans. |

| I have the AKG 181's and they r great, had Sony and Pioneers and these r more rugged, everything is replacable and better sound isolation. No one has written about them cuz they r so hard to actually find when you are looking in stores for them. The HD25's are much lighter and I will probably get those next, but I do enjoy the AKG's. As far as quality they are much better than Sony etc and have been known for years for their great quality in musical equipment, especially monitoring headphones and microphones, so no comparison in brands unless you dont realize what they have done in the music industry in general. If you get the choice and play long gigs I'd go Sennheiser, if you want more rugged and are more abusive on your headphones I'd stick to the AKG's |
