What are your thoughts? I have never found it to be something even worth our time. Why is the US so staunch in this ? I understand the hostilities that were created, but they are a sovereign country, why are we interfering so much with them?

If Cuba deserves an US embargo, well, so does China which executes thousands of people a year, and brutally subjugates Tibet. But of course, Cuba is a weak country and so the US can basically do what it wants.

You can. Connect through Mexico or Canada.

i know i can go there but it's a huge ordeal to my understanding when you come back to the us. my friend went for a month but it was because of some graduate school project on some grant. i don't know anyone who has gone just to go, always has to do with school

As Krypton mentioned you can. Just make sure to keep your passport from getting stamped (get one of those temporary ones when you get to customs) and bring cash. All US credit transactions will be denied there, if they even accept credit. Also you can connect from the Caribbean instead of Canada or Mexico.

edit//here is a site that will even facilitate your flight from the country outside the US to Cuba. http://www.cubalinda.com/English/Sections/HowCubaUS.asp

read the Monroe Doctrine.

Cuba is free to do business with whomever they want except the US and vica versa. and they do.

we supply medical and food stuffs through charitable organizations and monitored free trade. other than that US companies are not allowed to do any other business.

the reason they're so behind the world is 1) their form of government (old school Marxist communism. hardly anything like China's) 2) up until the fall of the Soviet Union their economy was almost entirely subsidized directly by Moscow. no Soviet Union, no 90% of the economy. simple.

communism sucks. communism in this hemisphere sucks huge donkey balls.
