If the light is green, aren't you supposed to pull into the intersection so that when you have the chance to turn left you can take it? Even if it's when the light turns yellow (or has just turned red if there's other people running the yellow/red coming from the opposite direction).
I swear that's what my driver's ed teacher taught me. But then again, that was 8 years ago now, I could be wrong...or the rule could have changed. |
you are only suppose to enter the intersection if you can safely clear the intersection before the light turns red....if the light turns red while you are in the intersection then it's a moving violation. |

Those who eat burgers in their car piss me off...
Those who follow me too close piss me off... If you are driving around 120 you should have min 60 meters distance...
Those who don't listen music in their car piss me off...
Those who chase people while driving piss me off...
Those who don't have sex in their car piss me off...Why not, car is a great place to have sex while driving or parking...though, I prefer parking spot in a foggy night....
overall, I do agree with all the comments above... |

even if you enter the intersection on a green...if you can't clear the intersection before it turns red its a moving violation. |

I never said you couldn't turn on an amber....all is if you can't clear the intersection before the light turns red its a moving violation and you are not legally allowed to enter the intersection unless you know you can clear the intersection before the light turns red. |

Oncoming traffic must legally stop at an amber light if it is safe to do so, which means you should always be able to clear the intersection safely before the light turns red. A driver can't be placed at fault if he has to wait for other drivers gunning it through the amber - police would never ticket somebody for this, and even the red light cameras don't care unless you enter the intersection on a red.
You may be correct in theory but it's meaningless in practice. Traffic engineers and urban planners know this - that's why there's a delay after one set of lights turns red before the other set turns green.
Hell, even Young Drivers teaches that you have to pull out into the intersection when you're turning. You're even supposed to pull into the centre if it's a divided road for better visibility. If you sit at the intersection waiting on a green, you're a traffic obstruction, plain and simple. |

and you know as well as I do that every day people wait until the light turns red before making their left turn. If the person wasn't sure they could clear the intersection because of oncoming traffic then they should not enter the intersection...doesn't matter if the light is green or amber....the HTA clearly states it is a moving violation. |

| Oh ya, here's another fav of mine. Ppl who enter a HWY and don't aggressively accelerate to be at the speed of the HWY when they're finally on. I shouldn't have to slow down just to let someone on. They think they're going to a Sunday picnic when they're merging on a HWY! |

- drivers that STOP at a yield/merge even though you have your own dedicated lane -- I see this regularly at the entrance to Black Creek on Weston Rd and sometimes there are accidents because of it |
i despise this one too.
- people that turn right onto main streets without 2 clear lanes open. if i was changing lanes looking in my blindspot they would be dead.
- traffic jams on the 407/?!?! so rare but so outrageous when it happens.
- people who don't move over to the middle lane when a cop car/ broken down care is in the shoulder. move over dumbasses its also against the law when its a cop care not to mention foolishly unsafe.
- blackberries |
